FOALS out of top-class National Hunt mares headline the catalogue for next week’s British NH Breeders Showcase at Goffs UK, following a successful inaugural edition in 2023.
Seven yearlings and six broodmares have been added to a selection of well-bred foals in the 90-lot catalogue, which goes under the hammer from noon on Friday, November 1st. The sale will be preceded by a foal show the previous day, with the colts’ class held in memory of Goldford Stud’s Richard Aston and fillies’ class honouring the late Robert Chugg of Little Lodge Farm.
The foal classes will be judged by Highflyer Bloodstock’s Tessa Greatrex, Antonin Pelsy of Spincourt Bloodstock and Luke Cummins of Rathurtin Stud and Belleville Bloodstock. The show will begin at 1pm, with Goffs offering a prize fund of £10,000 between the top three colts and fillies.
The young stock includes the progeny of leading sires such as Blue Bresil, Kapgarde and Walk In The Park, as well as exciting young stallions Crystal Ocean and Jeu St Eloi. Nathaniel, who is better known for his flat progeny, has ten foals catalogued, joined by 13 foals from Golden Horn’s first crop conceived at Overbury Stud.
It will also present a commercial test for the first foals by champion stayer Stradivarius, the National Stud sire responsible for three, with five hailing from the second crop of St Leger victor Logician, who stands at Shade Oak Stud.
