THE Tattersalls Online October Sale proved a sedate affair, with 35% of 139 lots finding a buyer, for an average price of 6,529gns and median of 2,400gns.
Online sales are difficult to compare year-on-year, given the unpredictable nature of the quality on offer, and Friday’s statistics suffered from Sindria being vendored at 75,000gns. Consigned by Dermot Weld’s Rosewell House Stables, the two-year-old daughter of Kodiac had finished seventh of 16 on her sole start in a Curragh earlier in the month.
Connections’ decision to retain her left top-lot honours to She Is For Me Boys, a smart debut winner at Toomebridge for Mary Doyle. Tom Malone secured the daughter of Clovis du Berlais for 42,000gns, a 25,000gns increase on her price at the Tattersalls May NH Sale in May 2022.
“I’ve seen her plenty in James Doyle’s yard and I liked her when I saw her in February,” the agent later commented. “I saw her in September again and then she went and won first time out. The form was solid and she’s out of a Presenting mare. She jumped for fun and that’s going to be a big asset when she comes to Britain. She has been bought for Jamie Snowden and owners Karen and John Gunn.”
The Jessica Harrington-trained Cruden also went the way of Tom Malone, at a cost of 26,000gns. Successful in a maiden hurdle at Cork last time out, the son of Time Test was previously retained for £225,000 following his maiden victory on the flat in May. Harrington’s Commonstown Stables offered just one other lot on the day, dual hurdle winner Pigeon House, one of three purchases made by JC Racing
Jerry Horan’s Paragon Bloodstock spent 25,000gns on the highest-priced yearling of the sale. Consignor Barton Stud noted that the well-related Sea The Stars filly had been sold but returned at Book 1 due to slight box walking.
Another lot of changing fortunes was Golden Lady, an unraced Galileo two-year-old filly offered by Baroda Stud. Originally sold as a foal for €290,000, she was sold today to Tally-Ho Stud for 9,500gns today.
