QAULITY horses in training and winning point-to-pointers are the main features of the Cheltenham May National Hunt Sale, which was formerly conducted by Brightwells, the Leominster auctioneers who had been running the Ascot Sales since 2000, but now is now under the wing of Tattersalls Ireland.

Including some still unknown wild card entries, Tattersalls Ireland will have a catalogue of about 65 lots for their Cheltenham May Auction, to be held on Thursday, May 30th, starting at 1.00pm.

Entries were still being accepted when this preview went to press, but details of the wild cards may be found on the web at www.tattersalls.ie a few days before the sale.

In recent years the May Sale has had an outstanding strike rate of winning and placed horses, including top-class performers Gods Own (Grade 1 Ryanair Chase at Punchestown), Josses Hill (Grade 2 Top Hurdle at Aintree), Monksland (Grade 2 Christmas Hurdle at Leopardstown), Road To Riches (Grade 3 Cork Stayers Hurdle), Clondaw Court, The Organist, Baden, Carefully Selected, etc. Last May 11 lots sold for £100,000 or more, with a record £280,000 for El Barra.
