PATTERN-placed three-year-old Easter (by Galileo) gave her future paddocks value another boost when winning the Listed Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Hurry Harriet Stakes over nine and a half furlongs at Gowran Park recently.

The Aidan O’Brien-trained bay, who was entered in Thursday’s Group 1 Darley Yorkshire Oaks, is out of the dual listed sprint winner Missvinski (by Stravinsky), a mare whose career-best effort was her half-length second to Darjina in the Group 1 Prix d’Astarte over a mile at Deauville.

A half-sister to the lightly-raced dual winner Le Retour (by Tale Of The Cat), her unplaced dam Miss U Fran (by Brocco) has a few winning siblings and is, in turn, out of the unraced Careless Aly (by Alydar).

That might not sound especially promising, but that third dam was out of the stakes-placed Careless Notion (by Jester) and so was a half-sister to the Grade 1 star Fabulous Notion (by Somethingfabulous) and a full-sister to Cacoethes.

Stakes-placed at two, he won the Group 3 Derby Trial at Lingfield and was regarded as the main challenger to 2000 Guineas winner Nashwan in the Derby at Epsom.

For a few strides it seemed that the duel would materialize, but then Nashwan quickened clear for an easy win, while 500/1 shot and subsequent Group 1 scorer Terimon stayed on for second, with Cacoethes third.

He took the Group 2 King Edward VII Stakes soon afterwards, was runner-up in the King George and in the Juddmonte International Stakes, and won a Grade 1 handicap in the USA at four before retiring to stud in Japan.

He got some talented progeny, including the local dual top-level winner Concert Boy, but arguably it is Fabulous Notion who fared better of the siblings at stud.

Her descendants include the graded winners Royal Lahaina (by Chapel Royal) and Decelerator (by Dehere), and her Grade 1 Test Stakes-winning daughter Fabulously Fast (by Deputy Minister) is the grandam of a Foxwedge (by Fastnet Rock) colt who made €70,000 at the Arqana August Sale in Deauville on Monday.

Those horses are remotely related to Easter, but as a blacktype-winning daughter of Galileo she could be a notable broodmare in time.
