THIS could be a big year for Tally-Ho Stud stallion Zebedee (by Invincible Spirit). His week got off to a good start with a treble on Monday, his dual classic-placed, dual Group 2-winning son Ivawood is covering his first book of mares under the Coolmore banner, his juveniles are already off the mark for the season, his three-year-olds include the pattern-placed Manaafidh, and his four-year-olds feature a pair of highly-rated geldings who could play a prominent role in the sprinting scene this summer and autumn.

The Wokingham was identified as a potential target for Spring Loaded after the grey made it four in a row with victory over six furlongs at Kempton late last month, a performance that saw his career tally reach eight and his handicap mark move up to 101.

Magical Memory, who was bred by Wardstown Stud Ltd and also represents their sire’s first crop, has his sights set even higher and the speedster made a winning return to action in the Group 3 Connaught Access Flooring Abernant Stakes over six furlongs at Newmarket nine days ago.

LATEST SUCCESS

Winner of five of his 14 starts and rated 114 before his latest success, the grey won the Stewards’ Cup at Goodwood last year, a month before he was beaten by just a short-head and three-quqrters of a length, by Twilight Son and Strath Burn, in the Group 1 Sprint Cup at Haydock.

His siblings include triple scorer Alutiq (by Kodiac), who went agonisingly close to getting some blacktype when short-headed for third place in a six-furlong listed contest at Salisbury two years ago, and although his twice-raced winning dam Marasem (by Cadeaux Genereux) does not have any bold type either, one of her half-sisters won the Group 2 Rockfel Stakes.

CLASSIC STAR

That was Sayedah (by Darshaan), the horse she short-headed that day was subsequent classic star Imagine, and she was unlucky not to have retired a dual blacktype scorer as she was disqualified after being first past the post in a 10-furlong listed contest at Longchamp on her final start.

Sayedah is the dam of Group 2 Beresford Stakes third Battle Of Marathon (by War Front), who finished fifth behind Mahsoob in the Group 3 Weatherbys General Stud Book Earl Of Sefton Stakes the day before Magical Memory’s big win.

Her winning half-sister Alsharq (by Machiavellian) is the dam of pattern-placed juvenile stakes winner Sandreamer (by Oasis Dream), and her dam is the Group 3 Princess Margaret Stakes winner and Group 2 Lowther Stakes runner-up Muhbubh (by Blushing Groom).

That makes her a half-sister to the Grade 2 Tom Fool Stakes winner Kayrawan (by Mr Prospector) and to Listed Firth of Clyde Stakes third Amaniy (by Dayjur), but also to Sayedat Alhadh (by Mr Prospector), the one-time scorer who gave us Group 2 Diadem Stakes winner and Derrinstown Stud stallion Haatef (by Danzig), Group 3 Athasi Stakes heroine Walayef (by Danzig), dual listed scorer Ulfah (by Danzig), and also Shimah (by Storm Cat), the Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes runner-up and listed race winner whose first foal is the six-furlong listed scorer Mushir (by Oasis Dream).

This family is all about speed and if Magical Memory lives up to the promise he has shown over the past year then he could give it, and his sire, a winner at the highest level.
