POTENTIAL GROUP 1 FILLY FOR DUBAWI
Godolphin's homebred Laugh Aloud (by Dubawi) looked like a potential Group 1 star in the making when romping home by five lengths in the Group 3 Princess Elizabeth Stakes (sponsored by Investec) at Epsom on Saturday.
The four-year-old, who has now won four of her nine starts – two of them listed races – took the eight and a half-furlong contest by five lengths and her next appearance may be in the Group 2 Duke of Cambridge Stakes at Royal Ascot.
She also holds an entry in the Group 1 Qatar Sussex Stakes at Goodwood in early August.
Laugh Aloud is a half-sister to the Grade 1 Arlington Million winner Debussy (by Diesis) and she is out of Opera Comique (by Singspiel), a lightly raced and Group 3-placed half-sister to classic-placed Group 1 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes star Belmez (by El Gran Senor).
She is clearly a high-class miler – and all of her starts have been at that distance so far – but the connections on the distaff side of her family suggest that a step up to 10 furlongs may not inconvenience her.
Dubawi was also represented recently by the Group 3 Prix de Royaumont winner Kitesurf, who also runs in Godolphin's colours.
The Andre Fabre-trained three-year-old was bred by Peter Winkworth, she was listed-placed over 11 furlongs at Chantilly last month, and her length and a quarter success over a furlong farther at that venue on Sunday came on just her fourth start.
Kitesurf is the first foal out of Shimmering Surf (by Danehill Dancer), who died earlier this year at the age of 10.
The mare won the Group 3 Pinnacle Stakes over 12 furlongs at Haydock and chased home subsequent Group 1 Irish Oaks heroine Great Heavens in the Group 2 Lancashire Oaks over the same course and distance a month later.
She was out of 10-furlong Newbury listed scorer Sun On The Sea (by Bering), who was a half-sister to pattern-placed stakes winner Beau Temps (by Mtoto) and from the family of Group 1 Irish Derby and Grade 1 Secretariat Stakes star Treasure Beach (by Galileo).

FIFTH STAKES WINNER FOR SEPOY
Australian juvenile champion and multiple Group 1 star Sepoy (by Elusive Quality) shuttles to Dalham Hall Stud and, unusually for a horse of his profile, all of his initial stakes winners have come from the northern hemisphere half of his global first crop.
Dabyah and Kilmah are pattern winners, Baileys Showgirl and the Jessica Harrington-trained Khukri have won listed races, and now Unforgettable Filly has joined them.
She was third in the Group 3 Oh So Sharp Stakes last year, chased home Daban in the Group 3 Nell Gwyn Stakes in April, finished sixth behind Winter in the Group 1 1000 Guineas at Newmarket, and then took the Listed Edinburgh Gin's Fillies' Stakes (registered as the Maggie Dickson Stakes) over seven furlongs at Musselburgh on Saturday.
The Hugo Palmer-trained three-year-old was bred by Rabbah Bloodstock Ltd and she is the fourth foal and fourth winner out of Beautiful Filly (by Oasis Dream).
Her grandam, Royal Alchemist (by Royal Academy), is a half-sister to the Group/Grade 1 stars Dowsing (by Riverman) and Fire The Groom (by Blushing Groom).
The former achieved some success at stud, headed by the Group 1 scorer Poplar Bluff. Fire The Groom, of course, is the dam of European sprint champion and successful sire Stravinsky (by Nureyev).

GROUP 2 FOR KINGSALSA FILLY
Kingsalsa (by Kingmambo) made a promising start as a freshman before establishing himself as somewhat successful dual-purpose sire.
The sire of triple Grade 1-chase star Captain Conan added to his blacktype tally in France on Sunday when La Sardane sprang a 20/1 surprise in the Group 2 Prix de Sandringham over a mile at Chantilly.
The Bruno De Montzey-trained three-year-old was bred by the partnership of SCEA Plessis and Jean Guillemin, she was runner-up to Senga in the Group 3 Prix de la Grotte on her previous start, and she is the first foal out of the stakes-placed Foresta (by Forestier).
That mare is a half-sister to the Group 1 Poule d'Essai des Poulains (French 2000 Guineas) runner-up Veneto (aka Californiavitality) (by Panis) and also to Milanis (by Dyhim Diamond), a juvenile stakes winner who was runner-up in the Group 1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere.
Milanaise (by Marignan), the grandam of La Sardane, won once as a three-year-old, her grandam won nine times, and if you go back to the fifth dam then you will find a branch leading to the talanted French jumper Mister Creek (by Nikos).

ANOTHER OF NOTE FOR ADLERFLUG
Adlerflug (by In The Wings), who won the Group 1 Deutsches Derby and Group 1 Deutschlandpreis by a combined margin of 14 lengths, is well established as being one of Germany's leading stallions.
This is no surprise given his sire line, his race record, and his close relationship to Galileo (by Sadler's Wells) and Sea The Stars (by Cape Cross).
He added to his blacktype tally on Sunday when Tusked Wings took the Group 2 Soldier Hollow Diana Trial over 10 furlongs at Hoppegarten, and this success brings the Jean-Pierre Carvalho-trained filly into contention for the Group 1 Preis der Diana (German Oaks).
She was bred by Gestut Schlenderhan, she is out of Tucana (by Acatenango), and that makes her a half-sister to the Group 2-placed prolific middle-distance winner Titurel (by Dr Fong).
Her dam won over 11 furlongs, that mare's siblings included the talented racehorse and successful sire Tertullian (by Miswaki), and his name should allow for instant identification of the famous family from which she comes.
Turbaine (by Trempolino), the stakes-placed grandam of Tusked Wings, is a half-sister to classic star and sire King's Best (by Kingmambo) and also to Group 1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe heroine and phenomenal broodmare Urban Sea (by Miswaki) – the dam of Galileo, Sea The Stars, and so many others of note.

SILVERWAVE ADDS TO HIS TALLY
Last year's Group 1 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud winner Silverwave added to his tally when beating Talismanic by a neck in the Group 2 Grand Prix de Chantilly on Sunday.
This was a seventh win for the Pascal Bary-trained five-year-old, his fourth pattern race success, and it came just a month after his one-length third to Cloth Of Stars in the Group 1 Prix Ganay.
He is a son of classic-winning miler Silver Frost (by Verglas), he is out of Miss Bio (by River Mist), and he is a half-brother (could be described as three-parts brother) to the Group 1 star and blacktype sire Stormy River (by Verglas).
Silverwave was bred by the partnership of Marie-Laure Collet, Jean Collet and Marylene Collet, and no doubt a place at stud awaits him whenever his racing days come to an end.

BRENDAN BRACKAN WINS AGAIN
He may be eight years old now, but the Ger Lyons-trained Brendan Brackan still retains plenty of ability. The Group 2-placed pattern scorer notched up the ninth win of his career when taking the Listed Glencairn Stakes over a mile at Leopardstown on Thursday evening.
The gelding was bred by Anamoine Ltd, he is a son of the late Irish National Stud stallion Big Bad Bob (by Bob Back), and he is out of Abeyr (by Unfuwain), a stakes-placed mare from the family of Group 1 Sussex Stakes winner and blacktype sire Noalcoholic (by Nonoalco).

NEW STAKES WINNER FOR LOPE DE VEGA
Classic star and Ballylinch Stud stallion Lope De Vega (by Shamardal) notched up another stakes winner when Grandee took the Listed King George V Cup over 12 furlongs at Leopardstown on Thursday.
The Jessica Harrington-trained three-year-old was bred by Oak Hill Stud, he was narrowly beaten by Naughty Or Nice in a similar contest on his previous start, and his entries include both the Group 2 Queen's Vase at Ascot and the Group 1 Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby at the Curragh.
He is out of Caravan Of Dreams (by Anabaa), who is a half-sister to the Group 2-placed, dual pattern scorer Royal And Regal (by Sadler's Wells).
The mare's siblings also include Celtic Silhouette (by Celtic Swing), whose pattern-winning daughter Celtic Slipper (by Anabaa) is the dam of last year's Ralph Beckett-trained 14-furlong stakes winner Moonrise Landing (by Dalakhani), who was also bred by Oak Hill Stud.
