  • Jet Setting narrowly beat the odds-on favourite Minding in the Group 1 Tattersalls Irish 1000 Guineas over a mile at the Curragh, the pair finishing 10 lengths clear of third-placed Now Or Never. The Adrian Keatley-trained filly was supplemented for the race, she was bred by Peter Kelly, and she is a second-crop daughter of Fast Company (by Danehill Dancer). The stallion stood at Rathasker Stud until joining the team at Overbury Stud this year.

    This bargain basement filly is out of Mean Lae (by Johannesburg), she comes from the family of the Group 2 Ribblesdale Stakes winner Miss Boniface (by Tap On Wood), and I reviewed her pedigree in detail in the 16th April 2016 edition of The Irish Field.

  • Fascinating Rock won the Group 1 Tattersalls Gold Cup over 10 and a half furlongs at the Curragh, a second win at the highest level for the Dermot Weld-trained five-year-old. Newtown Anner Stud's homebred entire is a son of Coolmore Stud shuttle sire Fastnet Rock (by Danehill), he is the best of several winners out of mile scorer Miss Polaris (by Polar Falcon), and his dam's four blacktype siblings include her stakes-winning full-brother Euro Falcon. His grandam is a half-sister to the triple Group 2-winning miler Gothenberg (by Polish Patriot).

  • Saent (by Strategic Prince) won the Group 2 Derby Sisal Matchpoint (Italian Derby) over 11 furlongs at Capannelle, a third blacktype success for the colt who was third in last month's Group 3 Premio Parioli (Italian 2000 Guineas). Trained by Il Cavallo In Testa and bred by Azienda Agricola La Morosina, the grandson of Dansili (by Danehill) is out of stakes-placed Eroica (by Highest Honor), which makes him a half-brother to the juvenile mile Group 3 scorer Punta Stella (by Elusive City).

  • Beacon Rock won the Group 3 Airlie Stud Gallinule Stakes over 10 furlongs at the Curragh, a second win from seven starts for the Aidan O'Brien-trained three-year-old. The Group 2-placed son of multiple champion sire Galileo (by Sadler's Wells) was bred by the Remember When Syndicate and his dam, Remember When (by Danehill Dancer), is also responsible for the Group 1-placed, nine furlong Group 2 scorer Wedding Vow (by Galileo). The mare is a half-sister to the Group 1 stars Dylan Thomas (by Danehill), Homecoming Queen (by Holy Roman Emperor) and Queen's Logic (by Grand Lodge).

  • Time Chant won the Group 3 Premio Carlo d'Alessio over 12 furlongs at Capannelle, a fourth blacktype success for the son of former Three Chimneys Farm stallion War Chant (by Danzig) and his first at pattern level. The stallion now resides at Yarradale Stud in Australia. Time Chant was bred by Massimo Parri, he is trained by Stefano Botti, and he is a half-brother to last year's pattern-placed juvenile stakes winner Voice Of Love (by Poet's Voice). He is out of Snowfield (by Tale Of The Cat), who is an unraced half-sister to Grade 2 scorer Sopran Mariduff (by Persian Bold), and his grandam is the mile Group 3 winner Marina Duff (by Caerleon).

  • Plusquemavie won the Group 3 Premio Tudini over six furlongs at Capannelle, a second pattern victory for the five-year-old son of Haras Des Faunes stallion Kheleyf (by Green Desert). He was bred by Allevamento Pian Di Neve, he is trained by Vincenzo Fazio, and he is out of listed sprint winner Kathy Pekan (by Sri Pekan). His dam is a half-sister to Kathy College (by College Chapel), the pattern-winning dam of multiple Group 3 scorer Rosendhal (by Indian Ridge).

  • Group 2-placed Basileus became the third stakes winner from the first crop of Ballylinch Stud's Group 1 sprint star Dream Ahead (by Diktat) when taking the Listed Premio Mauro Sbarigia over a mile at Capannelle. The Stefano Botti-trained three-year-old was bred by Azienda Agricola Gennaro Stimola, he is out of Miss Mariduff (by Hussonet) and so is a half-brother to the Group 2-winning miler Porsenna (by Dylan Thomas) and also to the Group 3-placed filly Astrelle (by Makfi).

  • Awtaad is now a classic winner following his victory in the Group 1 Tattersalls Irish 2000 Guineas over a mile at the Curragh. Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum's homebred colt is trained by Kevin Prendergast, he is a son of Kildangan Stud ace Cape Cross (by Green Desert), and he is the first foal out of stakes-placed Asheerah (by Shamardal). The mare is one of four blacktype earners out of the pattern-placed nine furlong listed scorer Adaala (by Sahm).

  • Our Ivanhowe won the Group 1 Hardy Brothers Doomben Cup over 10 furlongs at Doomben, in Australia, a third win at the highest level for the former German-trained six-year-old. He was bred by Gestut Schlenderhan, he is a son of Group 1 star and Gestut Auenquelle stallion Soldier Hollow (by In The Wings), and he is currently trained by Lee and Anthony Freedman. He is out of Indigo Girl (by Sternkoenig), who is a classic-placed half-sister to listed scorer Indian Breeze (by Monsun), and I examined the pedigree in detail, in the 14th November 2015 edition of The Irish Field, when looking at his National Hunt Grade 1-winning half-brother Irving (by Singspiel).

  • Mobsta sprang a 14/1 surprise in the Group 2 Weatherbys Ireland Greenlands Stakes over six furlongs at the Curragh, a second blacktype success of the year for the four-year-old son of former Tally-Ho Stud stallion Bushranger (by Danetime). The Mick Channon-trained colt was bred by Peter Gleeson, he is a half-brother to a couple of winners, and his dam, Sweet Nicole (by Okawango), is a half-sister to the seven furlong Group 2 scorer Tariq (by Kyllachy).

  • Classic-placed stakes winner Devonshire won the Group 2 Lanwades Stud Stakes over a mile at the Curragh. The Willie McCreery-trained four-year-old was bred by Patrick Burns and she is a first-crop daughter of former Rathasker Stud stallion Fast Company (by Danehill Dancer), who is in his first season at Overbury Stud. She is a half-sister to the stakes-winning sprinter Hurryupharriet (by Camacho) and her dam, Nova Tor (by Trans Island), won six times and is a half-sister to the nine times scorer Yungaburra (by Fath).

  • Profitable won his second pattern sprint of the year when beating Mecca's Angel by a neck in the Group 2 Temple Stakes over five furlongs at Haydock. The Clive Cox-trained four-year-old was bred by Con Harrington, he is a son of Irish National Stud stallion Invincible Spirit (by Green Desert) and he is a half-brother to stakes-winning sprinter Ridge Ranger (by Bushranger), who was runner-up in the Listed EBF Stallions Cecil Frail Stakes half an hour earlier at the same meeting. Their dam Dani Ridge (by Indian Ridge) is a winning full-sister to Group 3 scorer Blomberg and their grandam is the prolific US winner Daniella Drive (by Shelter Half).

  • Caravaggio maintained his unbeaten record when an odds-on winner of the Listed Cold Move European Breeders Fund Marble Hill Stakes over five furlongs at the Curragh. The Aidan O'Brien-trained juvenile was bred by the partnership of Windmill Manor Farms Inc and Petaluma Bloodstock, and he is a son of late Ashford Stud stallion Scat Daddy (by Johannesburg). He is out of the juvenile sprint stakes winner Mekko Hokte (by Holy Bull) and he is a half-brother to Grade 2-winning sprinter My Jen (by Fusaichi Pegasus).

  • Mount Logan won the Listed Intrinsic New For 2016 at Hedgeholme Stud Tapster Stakes over 12 furlongs at Goodwood, a fifth win for the Roger Varian-trained five-year-old and his first blacktype success. The son of Dalham Hall Stud stallion New Approach (by Galileo) was bred by the partnership of Ladyswood Stud and Canning Downs Stud Aus, he is out of Vistaria (by Distant View), and his dam is a full-sister to the Group 1-winning miler Observatory.

  • Steel Of Madrid beat three rivals to take the Listed Pantile Stud Fairway Stakes over 10 furlongs at Newmarket. The Richard Hannon-trained three-year-old is a son of Ballylinch Stud stallion Lope De Vega (by Shamardal), he was bred by Jeddah Bloodstock, and he is out of Bibury (by Royal Applause), a winning half-sister to Group 1 Gold Cup winner Rite Of Passage (by Giant's Causeway).

  • Jane's Memory, who was pattern-placed at two but unraced at three, notched up her first blacktype success when taking the Listed EBF Stallions Cecil Frail Stakes over six furlongs at Haydock. The Rae Guest-trained four-year-old is a daughter of former Ballyhane Stud stallion Captain Rio (by Pivotal), she was bred by Knocklong House Stud, and she is out of Dancing Jest (by Averti), a winning half-sister to the Group 2-winning sprinter The Kiddykid (by Danetime).

  • Moonrise Landing gave her future paddocks value a tremendous boost when winning the Listed weddingmates.co.uk Grand Cup over 14 furlongs at York. The Ralph Beckett-trained five-year-old was bred by Oak Hill Stud, she is out of the Group 3 scorer Celtic Slipper (by Anabaa) and she is by the brilliant Dalakhani (by Darshaan), the long-time Gilltown Stud resident who is now in his first year at Haras de Bonneval. Her grandam, Celtic Silhouette (by Celtic Swing), is a full-sister to the Group 2-placed stakes winner Celtic Silence and half-sister to dual Group 3 scorer Royal And Regal (by Sadler's Wells), who stayed two miles.

  • Decorated Knight took his tally to three wins from eight starts when winning the Listed Al Basti Equiworld Festival Stakes over 10 furlongs at Goodwood. A Group 2-placed son of prolific champion sire Galileo (by Sadler's Wells), the Roger Charlton-trained four-year-old is owned and bred by the partnership of Saleh Al Homaizi and Imad Al Sagar. He is the first foal out of Pearling (by Storm Cat), his dam is a full-sister to multiple Group 1 star and US champion sire Giant's Causeway and also to You'resothrilling, the Group 2-winning dam of Group 1 stars Marvellous (by Galileo) and Gleneagles (by Galileo).

  • Multiple stakes-winning stayer Trip To Rhodes added the 15 furlong Listed Coppa d'Oro to his tally at San Siro. Trained in the Czech Republic by Pavel Tuma, and bred in France by Haras St James and Y Elliot, the seven-year-old is a son of Haras de Cercy stallion Rail Link (by Dansili). He is out of Tropical Mark (by Mark Of Esteem) and so is a half-brother to the Grade 1-placed stakes winning filly Danza Cavallo (by Sunday Break). His dam is a stakes-placed grand-daughter of juvenile Group 1 winner Tropicaro (by Caro).

  • Former Aidan O'Brien-trained sprint stakes winner Guerre won the Listed Jockey Club Cup over nine furlongs at Klampenborg in Denmark. The five-year-old son of Claiborne Farm stallion War Front (by Danzig) is trained by Flemming Velin and he was bred by Ponder Hill Inc. The $180,000 Keeneland September Yearling Sale graduate is out of Golden Toast (by Hennessy), who is out of the juvenile listed scorer Soft Senorita (by Senor Speedy).

  • Zghorta Dance won the Group 3 Prix Vanteaux over nine furlongs on very soft ground at Chantilly, a first blacktype success for the triple-winning daughter of Haras De La Cauviniere stallion Le Havre (by Noverre). She was bred by Haras De Manneville, she is trained by Jean-Claude Rouget, and her winning dam, Ana Zghorta (by Anabaa) is out of Zghorta (by Gone West), a stakes-winning daughter of the Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Turf heroine Miss Alleged (by Alleged).

  • Pattern-placed grey Algometer won the Listed EBF Stallions Cocked Hat Stakes over 11 furlongs at Goodwood, a second win from four starts for Kirsten Rausing's homebred three-year-old. He is trained by David Simcock, he is a son of Lanwades Stud stallion Archipenko (by Kingmambo), and his triple Group 1-winning dam Albanova (by Alzao) is a full-sister to the dual Group 1 Champion Stakes heroine Alborada. Algometer's siblings include listed scorer Alwilda (by Hernando) and triple stakes winner All At Sea (by Sea The Stars).

  • Take Cover won the Listed ApolloBet Cash Back If 2nd Achilles Stakes over five furlongs at Haydock, a fourth blacktype success for the Group 2-winning son of late Dalham Hall Stud stallion Singspiel (by In The Wings). Norcroft Park Stud's homebred nine-year-old is trained by David Griffiths, he is out of Enchanted (by Magic Ring) and he is a half-brother to the six-times scorer Arteus (by Fantastic Light).   • Skiffle got off the mark in style by winning the Listed Veolia Height Of Fashion Stakes over 10 furlongs at Goodwood just two weeks after a third-place debut effort over the same trip at Ascot. The Charlie Appleby-trained three-year-old was bred by Darley, she is a daughter of Dalham Hall Stud stallion Dubawi (by Dubai Millennium) and she is out of 12-furlong stakes winner Princesse Dansante (by King's Best). Her dam is a half-sister to Brooklyn's Dance (by Shirley Heights), who is the pattern-winning dam of Group 1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe heroine Solemia (by Poliglote), and this is also the family of last Sunday's impressive Group 1 Poule d'Essai des Poulains (French 2000 Guineas) scorer The Gurkha (by Galileo).

  • Maleficent Queen extended her winning run to five with victory in the Listed British Stallion Studs EBF Tennent's Rothesay Stakes over 10 furlongs at Ayr. The Keith Dalgleish-trained four-year-old was bred by Kassala Ltd and she is the second blacktype scorer of the week for Newsells Park Stud stallion Mount Nelson (by Rock Of Gibraltar). She is the best of a string of winners out of Manila Selection (by Manila), an unraced mare from the family of US Grade 1 winner Colstar (by Opening Verse) and multiple Group 1-placed Group 2 scorer Montjoy (by Manila).

  • Ballylinch Stud stallion Lope De Vega (by Shamardal), who struck with Belardo in England on Saturday, recorded a quick Group 1 double when his daughter Jemayel narrowly won the Pour Moi Coolmore Prix Saint-Alary over 10 furlongs at Deauville. The Jean-Claude Rouget-trained three-year-old was bred by S.F. Bloodstock Llc, she is a €100,000 Arqana Deauville October Yearling Sale graduate, and she is out of the pattern-placed Nawal (by Homme De Loi). Her siblings include the Grade 1 Hollywood Gold Cup scorer Mast Track (by Mizzen Mast) and the seven-furlong stakes winner Redbrook (by Raven's Pass).

  • Knife Edge became the eighth individual stakes winner from the first-crop of Coolmore Stud stallion Zoffany (by Dansili), and his fifth at pattern level, when taking the Group 2 Mehl-Mulhens-Rennen – German 2000 Guineas, over a mile at Cologne, by a nose. The Marco Botti-trained three-year-old was bred by the Attalea Partnership and he is out of the Monsun (by Konigsstuhl) mare for whom that team is named. He is a €43,000 graduate of the Baden-Baden September Yearling Sale, he is the first foal of his dam, and his grandam, Anthyllis (by Lycius), is a half-sister to the Group 1 Deutsches Derby hero and Group 1 sire Adlerflug (by In The Wings). This is a branch of the famous Urban Sea (by Miswaki) family.

  • Finsbury Square won the Group 3 Prix de Saint-Georges over five furlongs at Deauville, a first pattern success for the first-crop son of Haras de Bonneval's Group 1 winner and classic sire Siyouni (by Pivotal). Berend Van Dalfsen's homebred four-year-old is trained by Fabrice Chappet, he is a gelded son of the winning mare Diamond Square (by Dyhim Diamond), and his dam is a half-sister to the mile stakes winner King Solomon (by Simon Du Desert).

  • Newsells Park Stud stallion Mount Nelson (by Rock Of Gibraltar) added to his double-digit tally of stakes winning progeny when Boscaccio justified odds-on in the Listed Grosser Preis der Hannoverschen Volksbank – Derby Trial over 11 furlongs at Hanover. The Christian Sprengel-trained three-year-old is out of the speedy dual winner Bianca De Medici (by Medicean), his dam is a half-sister to the 12 furlong listed scorer Thunder Teddington (by Halling), and he comes from a distant branch of the family of Group 1 stars such as Triptych (by Riverman), Generous (by Caerleon) and Imagine (by Sadler's Wells).
