DRAGON Pulse is only 12 but has supplied the winners of almost 400 races and sailed passed the £4 million mark in progeny earnings last year.

He has a growing list of sons and daughters who are rated 90 and above, several six-figure earners to his name and, of course, his double-digit tally of blacktype horses.

Aethos (dam by Acatenango) was a pattern winner at two and went on to multiple blacktype successes after that, I’ll Have Another (dam by Dylan Thomas) and Legendary Lunch (dam by Hansel) were pattern-placed stakes winners as juveniles, whereas Magical Fire (dam by Danehill Dancer) and Light My Fire (dam by Monsun) were group-placed at that age too.

In 2020, Wealth Of Love (dam by Definite Article) was a dual stakes winner over seven and a half furlongs at San Siro and he could be a classic contender in Italy this coming season.

Many of Dragon Pulse’s best are sprinters or milers, although some, like Original Choice (dam by Street Cry), stay middle distances. That 96-rated £130,000-plus earner made it win number seven when scoring over 12 furlongs at Wolverhampton almost 12 months ago.

One of Dragon Pulse’s foals sold for 72,000gns in Newmarket in late November – a half-brother to juvenile Group 1 star Tiger Tanaka (Clodovil) – and with his fee now set at €2,000, this high-class son of Kyllachy (Pivotal) should find renewed popularity.

Dragon Pulse was among the leading juveniles of his year, trained by Jessica Harrington, and in an abbreviated three-year-old season, when based in France, he short-headed their juvenile ace Dabirsim in a leading one-mile classic trial.

He was the favourite when losing out in a photo over six furlongs at the Curragh on his debut in early June at two, won over the same trip at Leopardstown the following month and beat the subsequent Group 1 scorer Parish Hall by almost two lengths in the Group 2 Futurity Stakes over seven before failing by just half a length to beat future classic star Power in the Group 1 National Stakes over that same course and distance.

Little wonder Dragon Pulse gets talented two-year-olds in addition to plentiful sprint winners and those successful at around a mile and upwards.

He is by the sire of Group 1 sprint star and successful 2020 freshman sire Twilight Son (Kyllachy), he’s a grandson of the recently retired outstanding British stallion Pivotal (Polar Falcon), and he’s related to the Group 1 Middle Park Stakes winners Hayil (Dayjur) and Shalaa (Invincible Spirit), the latter also a blacktype freshman last year.
