TRAINER Amy Murphy was more than happy with Kalashnikov at Plumpton on Monday.

Her Supreme Novices’ Hurdle runner-up has taken well to fences.

Apart from standing off extravagantly three out in the Sky Sports Racing Novices’ Chase, he was untroubled and beat Envoye Special by 18 lengths under Jack Quinlan.

Kalashnikov started at 1/7f and there are harder tasks ahead.

As things stand, he is well on course for the Arkle Trophy.

FEANE WINNER

JOHN Feane has been raiding successfully of late and the Curragh-based handler won the last in the dark at Wolverhampton, the median auction, with the four-year-old Captain Dan, who breezed home at even money for John Egan.
