OVER €90,000 was raised for Aaron Fahey through an online auction and tractor run.

Aaron, son of Nurney, Co Kildare trainer Paul, suffered life-changing injuries in a farming accident in August. His family are raising money to help adjust Aaron’s house and car, so he can live as normal a live as possible.

The online auction was headed by a nomination to any Coolmore Stud National Hunt stallion and this was bought by Sally Rowley-Williams (owner of Champion Chase winner Special Tiara) for €22,000. Most of the other items were sporting memorabilia, including a framed photograph of Honeysuckle signed by Rachael Blackmore, which fetched €400.

Over 240 tractors took part in Sunday’s tractor run, which started in the village of Kildoon and another 130 vehicles also paraded, each owner making a donation. This was followed by a raffle in the local pub.

The Fahey family and event committee has expressed thanks to everyone who supported the event.

“Aaron and the Fahey family would like to thank the Beattie family, Ronan Stynes, Johnny Breen, Kieran Kelly, Paddy Reilly, Seanie Merrins, Mick Dillon, Seamus Deering, Michael Fleming, Keith Fahey and everyone in the community of Nurney and beyond for their support and contribution to making the day a huge success. We will never forget the support that you have given Aaron.”
