A SMALL number of places are still available for unraced two-year-olds at the final set of barrier trials, coordinated by Irish Thoroughbred Marketing and the IHRB, and set to be staged before racing at Dundalk on Friday, August 17th.
ITM has already reserved slots for a number of connections who were unable to take part in the trials staged last month, hence the limit on entries for what is proposed to be their final date this year. The same terms for the two dates of trials staged already will apply and these can be found at http://itm.ie, along with videos of the heats run already.
It is important to point out that while the trials staged thus far have thrown up horses that have performed well on the track, ITM will prioritise entries for horses that connections wish to sell on unraced. Only the sale of horses that trial well and can be sold overseas without an official start will give the project a viable chance of continuing next year.
The first two winners from the trials held to date were trained by Jessica Harrington, and include the Curragh maiden winner Indigo Blues. However, the principal aim of the trials is to create a market for unraced juveniles overseas.
The trials will again be recorded and placed online to assist with potential sales. Entries can be made by calling 087-112-1625 after 9am on Tuesday, August 7th.
