THERE’S no horse racing at Dundalk Stadium until July but the track did open its doors recently to give over 120 local primary school children a tour of the facilities, as part of the HRI Racing Juniors education series.
Trainer Ado McGuinness brought along the retired Saltonstall and talked to the kids about a typical day-to-day routine for his horses.
Jockeys Adam Caffrey and Aisling McGuinness also helped out, as did head groundsman Sean Gamble.
Riding instructor Niall Byrne from RACE was on hand to give children an opportunity to ride the racehorse simulator. The schoolchildren and their families have been invited back to Dundalk for their Ladies Day fixture in July.
