Rayvin romps in Kingwell

AT Wincanton, Oliver Sherwood continued on the up as the much-improved Rayvin Black made all in the four-runner Grade 2 Bathwick Tyres Kingwell Hurdle.

The 100/30 chance was always in control, keeping on well to hold Melodic Rendezvous. Pain Au Chocolat finished a fair third and may become quite a force over fences but Nicholls’ 8/11 favourite Irving was never at the races and finished a long way last.

Irish winners

There were two mid-week Irish-trained winners. Stuart Crawford trained the mare Suzy’s Music (5/2) to score by two lengths under Andrew Lynch in the Mares’ Novices’ Handicap Chase over two miles, five and a half furlongs at Weatherby on Tuesday.

Later at Wolverhampton Gordon Elliott saddled two runners and after Dove Mountain had finished third by narrow margins in the mile and a half handicap, National Service, ridden by Timmy Murphy won the six furlong selling handicap at 13/8 for owner Tom Howley.

Willie Mullins sent the mare Gitane Du Berlais to Huntingdon for a two mile three furlongs mares’ listed chase. After a good battle she lost out to Kim Baileys’ Emily Gray by a neck.
