SPORTING an increased and stouter catalogue, the Goresbridge Supreme sale of show jumping foals will take place at Barnadown in Co Wexford on Saturday, August 31st.

Last year’s edition delivered a rewarding 100% clearance and now, under the new management of Ed Donohoe, Saturday’s renewal offers 21 pre-selected lots. All came under the scrutiny of selectors Alain Storme and Brendan Doyle, and standing out among them is a colt out of a half-sister to James Kann Cruz, as well as close relations to performers, such as Fellow Castlefield, D’Amour du Nenuphar and LCC Lux Like Cavalier.

“The selectors were delighted with the quality of the foals presented to them,” said Donohoe. “Those selected are a very smart bunch with very good jumping pedigrees to match.”

While following a similar pattern to recent years, Saturday’s sale will feature a drink’s reception, which is due to follow the parade of foals (4pm) and which will precede the auction at the later time of 6.30pm.

As usual, the renewal is staged in conjunction with the Irish Breeders’ Classic show jumping championships, whose prize fund benefits from 2% of the turnover.
