The Irish Field has become the first equine patron of Agri Aware, the Irish independent agri-food educational body.

The inclusion of The Irish Field to Agri Aware’s patron base is particularly pertinent at this time, as the new draft Agricultural Science specification for Leaving Certificate students encompasses equine for the first time.

Agri Aware’s chairman Richard Moeran said: “The equine inclusion in the newly drafted Agricultural Science specification demonstrates the importance of equine science to our economy through the bloodstock and horse industry.”

Agri Aware’s chief executive Dr. Vanessa Woods said: “Having The Irish Field on board as a patron is an important step for Agri Aware, as it represents new relations with the Irish equine industry.

“I look forward to working with The Irish Field in educating members of the general public and students from towns, cities and the countryside on the importance of the Irish equine industry.”
