The great Galileo, outstanding sire of the last few decades, reached a landmark 100 individual winners when his daughter Content won the Yorkshire Oaks on Thursday. He had been stuck on the 99 mark since Warm Heart had won the same race last season.

This season he is also represented by a group of top stayers with Tower Of London and the three-year-old colts, Illinois, Grosvenor Square and Jan Brueghel all still looking possible Group 1 winners.

The tally which began with Nighjtime in the 2003 Irish 1000 Guineas, includes five Derby winners, in New Approach, Ruler Of The World, Australia, Anthony Van Dyck and Serpentine and the best horse of the century Frankel, who won 10 Group 1s.

Galileo was born in March 1998 and was put down in July 2021.
