David Stack has revealed that Roaring Lion’s well-bred Group 1 winner Dubai Mile will stand at Coolagown Stud from the 2025 breeding season.

Coolagown Stud’s David Stack said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be standing Dubai Mile, a very special horse as one of the best colts by the much-missed Roaring Lion, on behalf of Ahmad Al Shaikh. He’s a stunning individual with an incredible action, and both we and Ahmad will support him with some nice mares.

“I look forward to showing him off to breeders and thank Federico Barberini for arranging for him to stand here.”

Trained by Mark and Charlie Johnston for Ahmaid Al Shaikh, Dubai Mile recorded back-to-back wins in August of his juvenile career and progressed to finish a close second in the Group 2 Royal Lodge Stakes at Newmarket.

He produced a game performance reminiscent of his multiple Group 1-winning sire when battling back to deny Arrest in the Group 1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud next time out, when the front pair finished six lengths clear of the rest of the field. Dubai Mile joined an honour roll that includes Darshaan, Pistolet Bleu, Poliglote, Voix Du Nord and Fame And Glory.

He returned to finish fifth in the 2000 Guineas won by Chaldean and achieved a Timeform rating of 128. Retired to Manton Park Stud last year, he was introduced at a fee of €7,500 and will command €4,000 (live foal) in 2025.

Bred by the late Lady O’Reilly under her Skymarc Farm banner, Dubai Mile is one of three stakes winners out of the listed-winning High Chaparral mare Beach Bunny. The Kevin Prendergast-trained mare placed in five group races, including when narrowly denied by Dar Re Mi in the Group 1 Pretty Polly Stakes over ten furlongs.

Coolagown Stud’s new recruit is the only stallion son of Roaring Lion, whose sire Kitten’s Joy is also responsible for this year’s leading first-season sire Kameko, while his grandsire El Prado is succeeded by the likes of Medaglia d’Oro and Spanish Moon.
