Lot 156A: Walk In The Park 3yo g out of Dani California
This wildcard entry is a very big, scopey horse with lots of power. We feel like he could be an early type, based on all his prep work at home. We bought him as a foal at the November NH Sale and we are absolutely delighted to have him. He has a very good pedigree. The dam won an Irish Cesarewitch and was also blacktype over hurdles. She has produced five winners from five runners. The sire speaks for himself and, as a physical, we love this guy. We are really excited to offer him for sale. Willie Mullins trained the dam and has had a few of her offspring since. We just have to get the horse there and he will sell himself. We will let the horse do the talking.
Lot 238: Shantou 3yo g out of Maggie Byrne
We bought this one as a foal. He moves very well; he really points the toe and is a correct horse. He wants to get on with the job. Being by Shantou, they are not making them anymore and the dam is a half-sister to Clondaw Warrior, she is producing winners too. The half-brother won a point-to-point at Dromahane for Colin Bowe and was subsequently sold to Tom Malone. This horse is just a very active horse, he moves so well, he floats along.
Who are the other members of the team helping you at the sale?
My wife Sarah is the driving force behind the operation. From buying foals, breeding, rearing foals and prepping them for sales, she is a phenomenal horsewoman. Her eye and her attention to detail is exceptional. She does all the work with them. We had a baby recently, Libby, and her older brother Harry (six) is doting on her, so we have been so lucky to have help at home, overseen by Sarah. Tommy Browne and James English have been brilliant helping out. Miriam Anglin helps us at the sales and she is brilliant at her job. We are really fortunate.
What is your best result you have had from this sale in the past?
I suppose the standout horse was Cato Capone. We sold him to Sean ‘Farmer’ Doyle, and he was bought by the McNeill family after he was just touched off in his four-year-old maiden at Ballynoe. He won a bumper first time out, trained by Gordon Elliott, and there is a lot of talk about him for the upcoming season.
We have sold some very nice horses through the years, and we are just continuously looking to build on our reputation for producing good horses that will go on for the next people.

Lot 77: Shantou 3yo g out of The Princetonian
This is one of the last by Shantou and he is out of a sister to Champion Hurdle winner Rock On Ruby who was a winner herself over hurdles. This is her first foal. He is a nice horse, well made and it is obvious he has a very nice pedigree. He is owned by the Heaney family who bred him and who have been very good clients of mine for years, so I would like him to do well for them.
Lot 98: Keep Kool Coko, 3yo g by Cokoriko out of Voix Du Mont
This is a nice type of a horse, a good-walking and athletic individual. He is out of a listed placed and winning Voix Du Nord mare. We bought this horse as a foal at the November NH Sale.
Lot 153: Malinas 3yo g out of Daly Lady
He is a well-bred horse, a half-brother to Huntsmans Son who won a listed chase and was placed in the Imperial Cup. The sire is popular, and this horse is good-walking, correct and well balanced. He is homebred.
Lot 163: King Gris, 3yo g by Gris De Gris out of Dexterite
Obviously, the French aspect is a positive and this is a nice type of horse that we bought in France as a foal. He is athletic and well-made and does everything we ask of him easily.
Who are the other members of the team helping you at the sale?
It’s myself, Gina O’Gorman, Megan Dreeling, John Moore and Linnea Parker. They are top class people, and I am lucky to have them.
What is the best result you have had from this sale in the past?
We sold a lovely Walk In The Park horse at this sale last year to Sam Curling for €55,000. He looked promising on his point-to-point debut before falling at the last. Two years ago we sold a lovely Mahler horse that Bobby Guiry, who sadly passed away last year, bred out of his dam Peppardstown who is also the dam of dual Grade 2 winner Mala Beach and Grade 2 winner Bonny Kate – whom he bred also.

Lot 5A: Vadamos 3yo g out of Ostarakov
He is a nice gelding with a good page. He is a good solid horse who looks like a track horse – he could be a bumper type. He is out of an own sister to listed and 10-time French winner Ole Companero and 11-time winner Ole Caballero. He was bought as a foal at the November NH Sale to pinhook.
Lot 269A: Doyen 3yo g out of Nightlynx
He is a fine horse, a good type at 16.3hh. I think he is tailor-made for the point-to-points. He is out of a half-sister to The Publican – it’s a very nice page.
Lot 25A: Affinisea 3yo g out of Rita Pride
The sire is going very well, and we really like the horse as an individual. He moves well, and he is a quality horse. He was bought as a yearling at the November NH Sale.
Lot 28: Affinisea 3yo g out of Role Model
This gelding is out of a French-bred Malinas mare who won over jumps in France and his half-sister, On Cloud Nine, is in training with Donald McCain. He thinks she is a nice horse and she has been placed in maiden hurdles a couple of times. He is a nice horse, again by Affinisea, who is going well.
Lot 55: Doyen 3yo g out of Sleeping Diva
He is a half-brother to Shear Rock who won three times and was placed nine on his 16 runs. He is a good, solid horse with a good walk and trot – a nice type. He was bought by a local Galway woman, Fidelma Helay Eames, at the November NH Sale to pinhook as a store.
Lot 156: Soldier Of Fortune 3yo g out of Dangan Diamond
A nice quality gelding out of a Mahler mare. He looks like a racehorse – we are hoping he is. He is a good, solid type and should go down well as an individual.
Lot 239: Elusive Pimpernel 3yo f out of Maggie Power
Her half-brother Ivegotdapower has won two point-to-points consecutively this spring and he has subsequently been sold to Donald McCain. This is a fine, quality filly. She was bred and is owned by Sean Murphy, who bred Flooring Porter.
Lot 539: Wings Of Eagles 3yo f out of Nancy’s Trix
She is a cracking filly with a lovely page. Nancy’s Trix is an own sister to seven-time winner Ballymalin. She is plenty big enough with a good walk and a great temperament. She was bought as a foal at the November NH Sale.
Who are the other members of the team helping you at the sale?
I do them myself at home and then I have a team helping at the sales. Aoife Dempsey is with me at this sale. Aoife spent the last year in Australia and, prior to that, spent two years with Ross O’Sullivan. She actually led up Ted Walsh’s winner at Kilbeggan last Friday! Richie Middleton, who works with the Bleahens, is helping me here and Hannah McGoldrick, whose grandfather, Bill Counihan, was the first person ever to buy a horse for Jim Bolger, is helping also. Hannah jumped pony Internationals and won in France. Sarah Keenihan from Co Clare is also part of the team. She does a lot of sales work and has great experience.
What is your best result you have had from this sale in the past?
We sold a very nice horse, Indeevar Blue, to Aiden and Olly Murphy for €80,000. He won his bumper first time out by an impressive 12 lengths and never came off the bridle. He was a cracking horse, really lovely. On the same day we sold a Walk In The Park (Leader In The Park) for €52,000 who won his point by 56 lengths for Sean Doyle and was subsequently sold to Highflyer for £250,000. They both look like two very nice horses.
I am based in Oughterard, Co Galway. There aren’t too many people to consign horses from the west of Ireland. The majority are doing it for themselves so there was nobody to take horses in. So I decided to consign a couple with the help of Ita Sheridan and we seem to be getting bigger each year.

Lot 97: Doyen 3yo f out of Vincenta

Lot 259: Sandmason 3yo f out of Molly Round
She is a nice filly with good size that walks well. She is athletic looking. Her page is quite active; the dam won three over hurdles and won over fences and she is a sister to three winners including the five-year-old Bioluminescene who won her point-to-point first time out and was second in her bumper for Gavin Cromwell and J.P. McManus. She is a homebred also.
Who are the other members of the team helping you at the sale?
My husband Don and I do them at home and our two daughters, Chloe (9) and Amy (7), although they are very young, they help and get stuck in! Gina O’Gorman comes in and helps us out a few days too. My cousin Sianne Rothwell helps us out as well.
