12.00 Racing TV Club Day At Fairyhouse Hurdle 2m
Wendrock appears the classiest of these. Described by his trainer as a Fred Winter-type horse after winning a maiden hurdle at Leopardstown over Christmas, he still warranted an entry in a Grade 1 at the Dublin Racing Festival.
The other two previous winners over hurdles, Butter Fingers and Space Warrior, may be the most obvious each-way contenders, but I prefer the chances of Bacchanalian. He is without a win, or the penalty that goes with it, but went close behind a filly with some good form last time out at Limerick.
The others look up against it, albeit useful flat horse Mo Ghille Mar must be held in some regard to have made her hurdle debut in a Grade 2, though she was well-beaten on that occasion.
SELECTION: WENDROCK
Next best: Bacchanalian

Qualamita has yet to back up her impressive point-to-point win, or justify her subsequent price of €500,000, but must be a leading contender here following two-length defeats on both her starts over hurdles. Her most recent run came behind two blacktype mares, and the extra two furlongs today may see her return to winning ways.
Kimi De Mai completed a hat-trick in her native France and the form has worked out well, involving two other promising Closutton recruits in Kel Histoire and Karbau. Sixandahalf is another exciting recruit to hurdles, the impressive bumper winner having gone on to earn a rating of 94 on the flat following her fine third in the Irish Cesarewitch.
Gino Bella’s hurdle bow suggested this step up in trip would suit, and she had shown promise when third in a bumper on debut behind the smart Butch Cassidy. Dee’s Lady didn’t make an impression in a bumper on debut, but the €150,000 buy may fare better over hurdles.
Pedigrees of note among the newcomers include Daisy Fingall, a half-sister to Grade 1-winning stablemate Captain Guinness, and Kinturk Maggie, who is a half-sister to the yard’s blacktype hurdler Kinturk Kalanisi.
SELECTION: KIMI DE MAI
Next best: Qualamita
1.07 SBK Handicap Hurdle 3m
Fortunedefortunata ran well in a listed handicap hurdle at Navan last month, finishing just three parts of a length behind a smart mare, and is of interest as he drops down in grade.
The market will prove informative regarding King Alexander on his first start for Willie Mullins. The form of his three hurdle wins for Nicky Henderson reads poorly, but time, trip and a change of scenery could bring improvement.
Waittilitellyou finished fourth in this last year, beaten seven lengths, and after another break, there’s nothing to suggest he’ll improve on that effort this time. Where’s Frankie was sent off favourite that day, but his disappointing performance suggested not all was right, and he should improve from last month’s return to action.
Walhaan made a promising return to hurdling before Christmas, but isn’t bred to stay this trip, while So They Tell Me may come on for the run today.
SELECTION: FORTUNEDEFORTUNATA
Next best: King Alexander

Memorial Handicap Chase (Grade 3) 2m 1f 50yds
Significant course and distance form on offer, including American Mike’s game third in a listed event at the end of November. He had the benefit of a recent run over the runner-up, The King Of Prs, who since went close at Leopardstown.
Stablemate Midnight It Is may be able to defy the 12lb rise earned with an effortless win last time out. Gavin Cromwell’s other runner Path d’Oroux has a tendency to disappoint on right-handed tracks, and was beaten 10 lengths by today’s rival Hunters Yarn in a beginners chase on last year’s card.
Hunter’s Yarn had previously fallen when clear at the final fence, with the race going to a classy rival, and now drops in class following his fifth in the Arkle and distant last in a Grade 2 on his seasonal return.
Lightly-raced 10-year-old Lets Go Champ made a promising return to action in November, finishing third in a Grade 3 at Cheltenham, but he might find today’s trip a bit sharp, while Captains Nephew may prefer softer ground.
SELECTION: THE KING OF PRS
Next best: Hunters Yarn
2.18 Irish Stallion Farms EBF Beginners Chase 2m 1f 50yds
Closutton’s talented pair of Asian Master and Tullyhill return, having chased home impressive stablemate Majborough here last month. Tullyhill jumped left on that occasion, and the way that his stablemate stayed on to finish three parts of a length behind him, suggests that they’ll be closely matched here over almost a furlong further.
They look a cut above stablemates Lisnagar Fortune, Mistergif and Westport Cove, who were all decent novice hurdlers. What’s Up Darling was a Grade 3 winner in that department, but will need to improve on his second to a shock winner at Leopardstown to worry the leading fancies here.
SELECTION: ASIAN MASTER
Next best: Tullyhill

Noble Birth has run well on two of his chase starts over further, and his form over shorter distances suggest this might be an ideal opportunity for him to get off the mark over fences. He comes here off the back of finishing third over hurdles at Cheltenham, beaten a length and three quarters by Gowel Road, who subsequently finished second in the Relkeel Hurdle. A chase win also looks imminent for Bleu d’Enfer, and though he has yet to deliver over this sort of trip, his pedigree suggests it’s within his reach.
Recent Navan winner Verdant Place has a significant hike in the ratings to overcome, but Banjaxed remains at the same mark following last month’s win over a similar trip
SELECTION: NOBLE BIRTH
Next best: Bleu d’Enfer

The little form on offer makes Skylight Hustle an obvious choice, the six-figure store having joined Gordon Elliott following a smart debut for Colin Bowe. His private purchase price remains a mystery, but the second later sold for £200,000, while the third won next time out.
The point-to-point form of De Temps En Temps hasn’t worked out as well, but it is interesting that he comes here following his second on hurdle debut.
Runcok caught the eye last time out when finishing third to a stablemate later described by Patrick Mullins as possibly being at the top end of the yard’s bumper horses. However, the winner was beaten next time out, while the horse that separated them was well beaten last month.
As ever, the market will provide any clues on the newcomers. Alfa Charlie could be worth considering, as a son of Blue Bresil, partnered by a talented 7lb claimer.
SELECTION: SKYLIGHT HUSTLE
