GALIWAY (Galiway) is the latest sire with his first runners in 2019 to get off the mark as a stakes sire. His son Kenway, a €65,000 yearling at last year’s Arqana Sale in Deauville, won the Listed Prix des Jouvenceaux et des Jouvencelles at Vichy to add to a prior success and a number of placings. His sire stood this year at Haras de Colleville for €3,000 and has three sons for sale at Arqana later this month.
Galiway was a rare Andre Fabre-trained two-year-old runner in England but the maestro sent him to contest the Group 3 Horris Hill Stakes on his second start and he finished runner-up. He ended his six-start career at three with a listed race win at Maisons-Laffitte but was considered good enough to tackle the French 2000 Guineas (fifth to Karakontie) and French Derby.
