Mighty Mo Missouri should prove hard to beat on a track that looks set to play to his strengths. The Jessica Harrington-trained gelding failed to fire at Cheltenham last month but had been runner-up in two maiden hurdles prior to that.

A tough, honest horse who often makes the running, he has plenty experience at this stage and should be difficult to pass.

Calico finished in front of the Harrington horse when they met at Punchestown in January but the placings may be reversed here. Gordon Elliott’s four-year-old is certainly good enough to win his maiden but is beginning to look a bit frustrating after 11 attempts.

Knockanard Lady can take advantage of a big class drop to win for the first time over flights. The former bumper winner was runner-up on her first two starts and then ran with credit when placed twice in Grade 3 company. She meets nothing of that calibre in this ordinary affair and it will be disappointing if she fails to make the breakthrough.

Point-to-point winner All About Lucy showed improvement on her latest runs over hurdles and there should be more to come now she steps up in trip. The Eoin McCarthy-trained mare stays well so should relish this extra test.

Mister Policeman faces no easy task on his Irish debut but the Willie Mullins-trained five-year-old is a young horse taking on exposed rivals.

A winner on his second start in his native France, the son of Triple Threat is thoroughly unexposed, so could be anything.

While he will need to be at least a mid-140 horse to beat this opposition there must be every possibility of him being just that.

Sole Pretender is a worthy rival having acquitted himself well in graded company in recent years. Although better known as a chaser these days. Norman Lee’s nine-year-old ran a big race when second in the Grimes Hurdle last June.

Largy Debut faces a relatively straightforward task to get off the mark over fences. A smart hurdler at his best, he has already attained a mark of 137 in his new discipline.

The Henry de Bromhead trained gelding shaped well against some of the leading novices in his initial runs, so will appreciate the easier demands of this task.

Aione failed to complete on his last two runs but had reached the frame on two occasions prior to that. A former point-to-point winner, who was second over course and distance last April, he looks the chief threat to the de Bromhead horse.

Bachasson who arrives here with less questions to answer than stablemate Chacun Pour Soi may be able to take advantage of the 12lb he receives from that rival.

A 160-rated chaser in his prime, the Willie Mullins-trained gelding was off the track for 749 days before making a winning return at Gowran Park last month. While the bounce factor is always a worry, he looks the most likely winner all things considered.

Chacun Pour Soi has done the majority of his racing over the minimum trip so has stamina to prove now upped to three miles for the first time. If staying the extra distance, then he is the class act in the race.

Rebel Ivy appears to hold leading claims for the local stable of James Motherway. A surprise winner of a mares’ listed hurdle at Limerick in October, she showed that form to be no fluke when an excellent third at Navan on her reappearance. In fact, nothing travelled better than the eight-year-old until lack of a run began to tell and she eventually flattened out. She does have a bit to prove now having fallen at Punchestown last time but if none the worse for that exit she should take beating.

Lucky Max, a former course winner who was just behind Rebel Ivy at Navan, is a live threat. Danny Gilligan takes a valuable 7lb off the back of the Sean Doyle trained runner.

Better Times Ahead, a winner over fences at Navan last time, could be well treated on his return to hurdles. The Robert Tyner-trained gelding easily landed a Grade B handicap chase yet now races off an 11lb lower mark in a modest hurdle. Although a beaten favourite when last seen over hurdles a year ago, he had been an impressive winner on his penultimate start.

Elsannah had hinted at ability on a few occasions prior to putting it all together at Naas last time. The daughter of Mores Wells has been raised 8lbs for that success but almost certainly has more to offer in this grade.

The Ballyline Man can overcome a 420-day absence to make a winning debut for Willie Mullins. Second in his only point-to-point start, that form has been well advertised with the winner going on to finish third in the Cheltenham bumper.

Given expected improvement for the switch to the champion trainer, the five-year-old should be difficult to beat.

Will Do sets the standard although it has to be frustrating for connections that he has thus far failed to get his head in front. The Walk In The Park gelding may just be one who will be seen in a better light when returned to hurdling.
