Recent Ballinrobe second Talk In The Park looks to have a good chance of registering a first career success. The Ross O’Sullivan-trained six-year-old would have to give weight to his main rivals if this were a handicap, while he has also run well previously at this unique track. The latter factor is something that should never be underestimated here.

Unbeaten point-to-point winner Backonthegoagain has to be of interest on his rules debut. Trainer Colin Bowe doesn’t run as many on the track these days, so the fact he has entered the six-year-old here has to be significant.

Divilskin is an interesting contender here on his return to the track. A winner on his point-to-point debut for Colin Bowe in 2022, he failed to fire under rules for Paul Nicholls the following season but is now back with his original trainer. Winning both of his latest two point-to-point starts, the six-year-old is still young enough to make the grade.

The Shark Hanlon-trained Sirekoff will need to improve on his last few outings but a reproduction of his Clonmel second from last December would make him a leading contender in this race.

New Year Honours has to put a poor run at Leopardstown behind her but appears to hold leading claims if back to her best. Gordon Elliott’s mare looked to show improvement on the flat prior to her disappointing effort last time, so could still be well treated off a hurdling mark of 109. Jake Coen taking off 3lb further adds to her chances.

Wexford maiden winner One Night Standard could be well treated on her handicap debut, especially with Conor Stone-Walsh taking off 5lb. A fair fifth over course and distance on her penultimate start, the Gavin Cromwell-trained five-year-old showed she acts around here.

Opportunity Handicap Hurdle

A 90-rated horse on the flat, Phoenix Cowboy stepped up on his maiden efforts when runner-up at Limerick on his handicap debut. A proven stayer, the Shark Hanlon-trained seven-year-old drops back slightly in trip here but should really appreciate the stiff uphill finish. If he is in contention jumping the last, few will be coming home stronger.

Top-weight Media Naranja has been running consistently in stronger company of late. The Gordon Elliott-trained mare has to concede plenty of weight to her rivals but may well be capable of doing so.

Only A Dollar delivered on previous promise when making most to win at Clonmel last time. Having won with any amount in hand, a 7lb rise may not halt her progress. A slick hurdler, the Sean Aherne-trained mare can make the most of that attribute here against a rival who has been let down by jumping errors of late. Ossie’s Lodge looked to be travelling easily at Cork last time but bad mistakes at the final two hurdles ended his chances. Undoubtedly capable of better, the five-year-old will need to hurdle more fluently here.

The Paul Flynn-trained Rightfolksplease can record a first career success having filled the runner-up position on his latest two starts. The six-year-old gelding shapes as though he should be well suited to this intermediate trip. With the stable continuing to be amongst the winners in recent days, the son of Policy Maker holds leading claims.

La Hacienda is undoubtedly well handicapped over hurdles relative to her flat form. However, the Matthew Smith-trained mare has been disappointing of late, so will need to return to form if she is to exploit a lenient mark.

Although a beaten favourite on her racecourse debut at Tramore, the Willie Mullins-trained Si Se Puede can recover losses. A full-sister to El Fabiolo, the five-year-old may have bumped into an above average opponent at the Co Waterford track. With the benefit of that experience, it would be a surprise if she fails to collect now.

Gers Gigi looks the main threat, having run very well on both appearances to date. The form of her Ballinrobe second was well advertised when the winner followed up next time out.
