THE addition of two exciting wildcard entries means 242 lots are now catalogued for next week’s Tattersalls September Sale on Tuesday, September 10th.

The mixed sale was previously known as the August Sale, where Justin Adrian Byrne sourced subsequent Italian St Leger victor Roberto Escobarr for 40,000gns. Mick Appleby’s Group 3 winner was sold by William Haggas’ Somerville Lodge, who offers the 108-rated Mujtaba as Lot 105A on behalf of Shadwell.

The son of Dubawi’s best performance came last year, when finishing a neck behind Point Lonsdale in the Group 2 Huxley Stakes, and he gained further blacktype at Goodwood earlier this season.

Shadwell themselves sold Raasel at the August Sale to Jason Kelly for 10,000gns, and he went on to win two stakes races for Mick Appleby, while Blandford Bloodstock’s 25,000gns purchase Tempus, consigned by Juddmonte Farms, landed two group races for Archie Watson.

Other graduates of the August Sale include Miss America Stakes heroine Signorina Merisi, bought by Ron Charles for just 17,000gns, and Swedish listed winner City Code, who cost Paul Harley and Cathrine Erichsen 24,000gns.

Promising versus proven

The largely British-trained catalogue features Paddy Twomey’s Gowran Park maiden winner Cill Mocheallog (Lot 161) and dual juvenile winner Vain Gloria (Lot 163), with Jamie Railton consigning both.

Baroda Stud’s bumper offering is expected to attract attention, particularly for hat-trick winner God Of Fire (Lot 71) and the progressive Debora’s Dream (Lot 134), while three-year-old Warm Spell (Lot 133) warrants interest based on earlier promise.

David Cox’s operation also consigns Amo Racing’s 91-rated gelding Sir Rumi (Lot 183), 89-rated miler Bullet Force (Lot 184) and stakes-winning sprinter Crispy Cat (Lot 186).

Ten from Steve Parkin’s Dullingham Park include the highly-rated sprinter Brave Empire (Lot 198) and Alzahir (Lot 199), a Group 2 winner in Doha last February. David Simcock, meanwhile, offers two highly-rated types in Mountain Road (Lot 110) and Mascapone (Lot 111), each of their catalogue pages headed by the phrase ‘to dissolve a partnership’.

Pedigree a plus

He also offers the now dual-winning juvenile Leyhaimur (Lot 113), herself a daughter of Fred Darling Stakes winner and Marcel Boussac third Dabyah. The Castlebridge Consignment offer a half-sister to Group 2 winner Naval Power, by proven broodmare sire Raven’s Pass (Lot 86).

James Tate offers Midnight Move (Lot 77), an unraced Dark Angel filly out of a Group performer, while Ismail Mohammed’s Shamardal filly Shamardia (Lot 47) may interest breeders as a daughter of Group 3 winner Kilmah. Charlie Johnston’s Kingsley Park consigns two fillies out of stakes winners who placed at group level (Lots 106 and 107)

Liv My Life (Lot 48) promises potential updates as a half-sister to Chesham Stakes second Pentle Bay, while other catalogued breeding prospects boast covers to the likes of Sea The Moon and Soldier’s Call.
