1.30 Ballylinch Stud Irish EBF Ingabelle Stakes (Listed) 7f

It was hard not to be impressed with Easy when she won for the Slatterys at Cork, and she was duly bought straight away by American owners Team Valor and will have her first start for Paddy Twomey today. However, the Cork win came over five furlongs and she steps up to seven today, and that’s a little question she has to answer in a race full of similarly impressive maiden winners.

Kayhana is one of them, but her maiden win came over seven furlongs, when she accounted for the dual subsequent winners All Things Nice and Pandora Lovegood. Her rider’s comments were very interesting after the race, as he strongly suggested there is lots of improvement to come, so this Harzand filly deserves lots of respect.

With the conditions, this is a nice race for Zarinsk as she has been fourth at Group 2 and Group 3 level - if she’d finished in the top three she wouldn’t be able to run in this race. She won’t mind a dig in the ground and she also has experience that some of her rivals don’t have which should stand her in good stead.

SELECTION: KAYHANA

2.05 Irish Stallion Farms EBF “Sovereign Path” Handicap 7f

Markaz Paname is of obvious interest, kept fresh since a Group 3 win in April and the ground coming in his favour. However, he has a mark of 105 to defy and he has do it from stall 20, so that is enough to swerve him. Four of the last eight renewals of this contest have gone to Britain and they could win it again with David O’Meara’s Rhoscolyn, who will also enjoy the rain-softened ground.

He was a short neck away from I’m A Gambler, who also runs here, in a good Goodwood seven-furlong handicap, and he gets a 3lb swing at the weights with that rival now. All four of his wins have come over this distance and three of them have come when soft has appeared in the going description.

Andreas Vesalius could be best of the home team. An unexposed three-year-old, he has performed with credit this season, running well in the Scurry and then just plain unlucky at his first try at seven furlongs at Gowran for his latest run - got blocked off twice in the straight. He has scope to improve and could be dangerous.

Safe Voyage, the Boomerang Mile winner on this card two seasons ago, is also noted. He was a close-up sixth in the Goodwood handicap mentioned above, and that was probably his best performance of the season. Off a mark of 97 - he was a 116 when he won here last - he looks interesting.

SELECTION: RHOSCOLYN

It’s a mild surprise Ryan Moore has opted to ride Auguste Rodin instead of Tower Of London, but there can’t have been much in the decision, and it might be worth taking a chance on Tower Of London at the bigger price. He won his maiden over this course and distance, despite running greenly, especially in the latter stages when he drifted right across the track. It wasn’t the strongest maiden but he still won by just short of three lengths and he should improve from it and race more professionally today.

Auguste Rodin was unlucky not to win on his debut but he was a comfortable, if a bit workmanlike, winner of a Naas maiden. Clearly Moore choosing him is a good sign and he should go well. Of the rest, Alder could emerge as a threat. Donnacha O’Brien’s colt was second on his debut before winning at Killarney, but he was still green there, and may have plenty more to offer now.

SELECTION: TOWER OF LONDON

Next best: Auguste Rodin

3.10 Paddy Power Stakes (Group 3) 1m4f

Thunder Kiss was unlucky not to win this last season, not getting a clear run at a crucial stage, and she can gain a deserved win today. A rock-solid filly who rarely runs a bad race, she looked as good as she ever has been last time when third to La Petite Coco in the Group 1 Pretty Polly, prompting a career-high rating of 111. The likely soft ground won’t inconvenience her and she can end her career on a high, with this likely to be her final run before heading off for stud duties.

Earl Of Tyrone is probably her biggest danger. He has had a fabulous season for Paddy Twomey, improving on each of his five starts, which included three wins in a row and a career best when third off a mark of 103 in the Ebor.

Point King is of obvious interest, given he has been subject of Melbourne Cup speculation, but this is his first real test.

SELECTION: THUNDER KISS

Next best: Earl Of Tyrone

Georgeville looks well overpriced here. Given a favourable mention by his trainer, Ger Lyons, on The Irish Field Irish Champions Weekend podcast this week, the six-year-old may have his ideal conditions here, a soft ground, well-run mile. He was sixth in this last season, not beaten far by Real Appeal, when closing in late. This race doesn’t look as strong and he should be aided by sitting in behind a strong pace likely to be set by Boundless Ocean, Jadoomi and Just Beautiful up front. Double-figure odds look generous.

Jadoomi, the Celebration Mile winner, is top-rated here, and despite the suggestion he benefitted by the tactical nature of that Goodwood race, it was a career best. He has scope to go further and deserves plenty of respect now.

Boundless Ocean has had a good season at this track, but he may not get a solo up front this time in what looks a tougher race. Just Beautiful, a 625,000 guineas purchase last December, gets to have her first run for Paddy Twomey, and shouldn’t be discounted either.

SELECTION: GEORGEVILLE

Next best: Jadoomi

La Hacienda is already a course-and-distance winner from earlier in the season, but she has enhanced her profile significantly since with wins at Galway and Killarney and may not be finished progressing. Her latest win at Killarney was most impressive as she took it up early, went clear and had the race in the bag before the field closed in on her. She will be applied with first-time blinkers here and that could bring about even more improvement.

Dutch Schultz is a big player after his excellent third in the Connacht Hotel Handicap at Galway. He was coming off a 153-day break there but ran a clear career best and if he can come on from that, he could prove tough to beat, with the drop down in trip likely to be no hindrance.

Merlin Giant will be interesting if he gets a run from second reserve as he was a good winner over hurdles at Galway. The other to note is Moracana, who was impressive over 10 furlongs here earlier in the season and still has a nice unexposed profile.

SELECTION: LA HACIENDA
