THE Mediterranean Equestrian Tour is underway, with Spring MET Tour I currently taking place at Oliva, Spain, and a number of Irish riders are in attendance.

Last Wednesday, Bertram Allen rode Raffaella to win the Seven-year-old Immediate Jump-off class from 53 starters and the pair placed seventh in the MET Young Horse Champion Trophy for Seven-year-olds.

Thursday saw Niall Talbot on Deep Sea Semilly place fourth in the 1.30m Two-phase class, while Bertram Allen rode Iron Lady van de Zuuthoeve into third place in a 1.40m class in a class of 61. Allen followed this up with another third place in the 1.45m Grand Prix qualifier riding Castigo de Amor from 62 starters.

On Friday, Harry Allen took fourth place with Lukaku Vd Bisschop in the 1.45m Grand Prix qualifier from a start list of 86, while his brother, Bertram, took eighth place with Gary de Cerisy in the 1.35m class.

Saturday saw Bertram Allen on Coventry Moon place seventh in a 1.30m class, while in another 1.30m class, Niall Talbot secured the top spot with Deep Sea Semilly and Eoin McMahon on Grace de La Claye finished seventh.

Mark McAuley on Django Ste Hermelle were runners-up in the 1.45m Jump-off class, less than a second behind Brazilian winner Luciana Diniz riding Vertigo de Desert.

Niall Talbot on Deep Sea Semilly made a great start on Sunday, winning the 1.30m Immediate Jump-off class, with Bertram Allen on Iron Lady van de Zuuthoeve placing fourth.

Allen also placed third with Castigo de Amor in the 1.45m Two-Phase class out of 79 starters to conclude another good week of competition in Spain.
