KILRAINY Riding Club in Co Kildare has a long history of innovation having initiated international shows, North/South Challenges, and partnerships with international rider Paul O’Shea to name just a few.

Now, they are running a ‘Jumping for Charities’ show at Emerald Equestrian Centre in Mucklon, Enfield, Co Kildare, with a fresh new format.

Committee member Wilson Porter explained: “We have a prize fund of approximately €2,000 with €1,000 allocated to a Grand Prix for 1m and 1m+ riders. Of course, riding clubs being an amateur organisation, they cannot win the money themselves.

“Instead each rider will nominate a charity with the money going directly to the charity. There will be a Mini Grand Prix for 70cm and 80cm and a Midi Grand Prix for 90cm riders which will each have a prize fund of €300. We will also have supporting two-phase classes. It is hoped that this concept will appeal to a wide cross-section of the amateur show jumping community where they have the opportunity to make a significant contribution to a cause that is close to their heart.”

The show is to take place on Saturday, October 21st, with the full schedule available from kilrainy@airc.ie.
