RTE’s Nationwide programme travels to Commonstown Stables in Kildare on Wednesday week, December 6th, to meet the inspirational Jessica Harrington.

Jessica has faced many challenges in her life and had countless big winners but this year has perhaps faced her biggest challenge with a diagnosis of breast cancer.

As always, Jessica is upfront about her journey through treatment and speaks openly and frankly about her experiences with reporter Mary Fanning.

The programme reviews her career in racing to-date, focusing on the spring of 2017 when Sizing John won three Gold Cups and Our Duke won the Irish Grand National.

Commonstown Stables employs 70 people, and bloodstock agent Patrick Cooper tells viewers why some of the world’s most influential racehorse owners come to Jessica.

The trainer also speaks about the impact of losing her husband Johnny in 2014 and she passes on some advice to those who may be facing a serious health issue.
