The stunning fairytale end of Frankie Dettori’s European odyssey could not disguise the truth that Ascot’s Champions Day fixture comes too late in the season with most Group 1 horses squelching through the mud like tractors with a puncture. Time for a rethink.

Think the problem with racing is that it’s full of moaners. Yesterday’s Champions Day was absolutely top class but there’s some who still hated it. You’d struggle to find a better raceday elsewhere, it ticked every box. I’ve never seen so many young people racing as I did yesterday, it was absolutely rammed with the younger generation of fans, which is what racing has tried to achieve for a while.

Frankie Dettori has done more to bring racing to the masses than any person ever. So those who are disappointed that he’s not retiring please be quiet.

It’s absolutely ridiculous how much ante post Cheltenham talk is on here nowadays this early out. Bar open company chasing, everything is complete guesswork to look fancy come next year.

Delighted that a cheque presentation will be made to @cancertrials_ie on Sun Nov 5th @curraghrace from the Pat Smullen Race Day / Coast To Curragh Committee.

In excess of €200k raised this year bringing the total to €570k + over 3 years. Thanks so much everyone who contributed

Desert Crown’s story is one of extreme patience. Connections were patient with him as a juvenile, patient to nurse him back to race at four & patient in trying to rehabilitate this serious fetlock injury. Ultimately their patience wasn’t rewarded. My heart goes out to them… RIP.

What an absolute mess @BHAHorseracing has put us in with the whip. Of course they will blame the review group, because it’s a blame game. @JimCrowley1978 in the KG, now @FrankieDettori. Banned for brilliance. You all only have yourselves to blame. You did nothing. Zilch.
