ONLY five horses remain in both the Irish Gold Cup and Irish Champion Hurdle following Tuesday's confirmation stage.

Two other Grade 1 races at the Dublin Racing Festival have six and eight entries at the latest stage, but the remaining 11 races all have the potential to result in healthy field sizes.

Crucially, the five horses in Saturday's Paddy Power Irish Gold includes Galopin Des Champs and Fastorslow. Galopin Des Champs is the reigning Cheltenham Gold Cup winner and he was imperious at Leopardstown over Christmas but he has been beaten by Fastorslow on the two occasions they have met previously.

State Man heads the five entries in Sunday's Chanelle Pharma Irish Champion Hurdle. Last year's winner is likely to be joined by stable companions Impaire Et Passe and Echoes In Rain, and they will be opposed by Bob Olinger from the Henry de Bromhead yard and Gordon Elliott's outsider Fils D'oudairies.

The appearance of Marine Nationale in Saturday's Goffs Irish Arkle Novice Chase promises to be a highlight of the weekend. Willie Mullins has left four in that extended two-mile contest, and all four of them are also engaged in Sunday's Ladbrokes Novice Chase over two miles and five furlongs.

El Fabiolo looks another banker in Sunday's Ladbrokes Dublin Chase over an extended two miles. Fastorslow remains in this race too but is expected to go for Saturday's Gold Cup.
