1.40 Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden 1m 1f

Hypnosis shaped well enough on his racecourse debut at this venue to suggest he should be winning this. The Aidan O’Brien-trained colt was doing his best work at the finish on that occasion, so better can be expected now that he has the benefit of that initial experience. A well-bred Galileo colt, he is a full-brother to two juvenile winners.

Rapid Mission rates the biggest threat having improved from a promising second start at the Curragh to fill the third spot at Punchestown on his most recent outing for Joseph O’Brien.

2.10 Fitzgerald’s Woodlands House Hotel Handicap 1m 1f

New Hill, one of the unluckiest losers of the entire season in last year’s renewal of this race, can gain some overdue compensation. The Sheila Lavery-trained five-year-old ran well on her next few starts but that consistency resulted in her climbing the handicap without winning. Now back to a more realistic rating, she has the added advantage of Wesley Joyce taking off 7lb.

Simply Sideways holds every chance in her bid for a quick hat-trick. After a somewhat frustrating mid season, the Tim Doyle-trained mare has won her last two starts in impressive fashion.

2.40 Coolmore Sioux Nation Concorde Stakes (Listed Race) 7f 100yds

Insinuendo would possibly prefer an additional furlong but the Willie McCreery-trained filly has the class to overcome that negative. A dual Group 3 winner, the six-year-old has also been successful in a Group 2, so should appreciate the easier grade she finds herself in here. Colin Keane is a significant jockey booking for the Deegan Racing Syndicate runner.

Dunum would be a hugely popular winner on his first venture into listed company. The ultra consistent five-year-old certainly deserves a chance to show what he can do.

3.15 BoyleSports Novice Hurdle (Grade 3) 2m 50yds

Arctic Fly is hard to get away from in her bid to make it three from three over flights. The Willie Mullins-trained mare was very impressive when making all to land a listed hurdle at the Galway festival last time. With only the seven runners here, Sean O’Keeffe will most likely keep it simple from the front on the daughter of Walk In The Park.

Stablemate Bialystok was clearly not himself when beaten at odds-on at Listowel last month but the five-year-old has questions to answer now, however it may well prove significant that Paul Townend has retained faith.

3.50 Horse & Jockey Hotel Hurdle (Grade 3) 2m 50yds

Galway Hurdle winner Zarak The Brave can take this prize before stepping back up to Grade 1 company. A lightly-raced individual, the Willie Mullins-trained gelding was runner-up in the champion four-year-old hurdle at Punchestown prior to his Ballybrit exploits. Connections understandably harbour big race ambitions, with this a perfect stepping stone.

Winner of the Grimes Hurdle here in July, the Gordon Elliott-trained Fils D’oudairies is a worthy opponent. As an eight-year-old he doesn’t have the same scope for improvement but the Saint Des Saints gelding commands respect.

Having only been claimed at Clonmel on Thursday, Starman could be about to give connections an immediate return on their investment. Now in the care of Anthony McCann, the seven-year-old ran out a very easy eight-length winner, for which he carries a mandatory 7lb penalty. Provided he is none the worse for those exertions, he should go very close.

Wouldn’t You Agree hasn’t been in the best of form in recent starts but the nine-year-old would be a leading contender if returning to his best form from earlier in the season.

5.00 O’Dwyer Steel Dundrum Novice Chase (Grade 3) 2m4f20y

Despite his advancing years, Sharjah made a hugely impressive debut over fences when winning easily at the Galway festival. The form of that race has already been boosted with the 11-length runner-up winning on his next start. A former multiple Grade 1-winning hurdler, the Willie Mullins-trained 10-year-old has the potential to do very well as a chaser.

Watch House Cross has plenty of experience over fences, winning two of his six starts. The Henry de Bromhead-trained gelding looks the one most likely to fill second spot.

5.30 Peppermill Restaurant Nenagh Fillies INH Flat Race 2m 50yds

Glens Lullaby catches the eye on pedigree in this finale. By Mount Nelson, out of Grade 1 winning hurdler Glens Melody, she is a half-sister to a bumper winner for Jonjo O’Neill. Trainer Peter Fahey has done remarkably well with similarly well-bred fillies over the years so it will be interesting to see if any market support materialises.

Alice Morgan is an obvious danger from the Willie Mullins yard. An unraced filly, out of a three-time winner for Nicky Henderson, the fact she is the stable representative on this prestigious card could be significant.
