EQUINIMITY LLC’S home-bred mare Rosamund won the 1.30m Six and Seven-year-old HSI Development Series worth €3,300 in Maryville last Sunday.

Ridden by Eddie Moloney, the mare is by Belgian stallion Button Sitte, out of Bailey Van D’Abelendreef, by Landor S.

Some 40 combinations lined out for the two-phase competition; of these, 20 kept a clean sheet throughout both rounds.

Moloney was fastest of these, guiding Rosamund through the finish in a time of 34.27 seconds for the top prize.

Tadhg Beecher riding Tim Beecher’s Loughnatousa Buachail (Sligo Candy Boy x Samgemjee), bred by the late Noel Cawley, took the runner-up spot, stopping the clock at 34.39.

Helen Sheridan’s mare CSF Day Dreamer (My Lord Carthago x Cavalier Royale), bred by Patrick Connolly, was ridden into third place by Liam O’Meara; the duo broke the finish beams in 34.60.

Moloney and his own home-bred Twain Flight (Luidam x Mark Twain) slotted into fourth place in 34.67.

Fifth place went to Freestone Farm’s Sumas Knockout (Tyson x VDL Arkansas), bred by Suma Stud and ridden by Max Foley, while sixth was another from Moloney’s string, CAFRE Twist of Fate (Luidam x Quinar Z). Owned by Thomas Fitzgerald, she was bred by CAFRE at the Enniskillen Campus.

Five-year-old

Con O’Sullivan’s BP Two, a mare by Jorado out of Mrs Quinn, by Laughtons Flight, won the HSI Five-year-old Development Series on Sunday morning.

Bred by GBBS Int Ltd and Liam Cleary, BP Two’s dam Mrs Quinn is also the mother of CBS Khantastic, who won the Irish Breeders’ Classic in 2021 and is currently ridden at international level by Mexico’s Alberto Sanchez Cozar.

Ridden by David Splaine, son of former Irish Chef d’Equipe Robert, the pair posted a time of 47.41 in the second round of the 1.10m two-phase to claim the win.

Teresa Ewing’s Ironman A was ridden into second place by Michael J Ryan in 50.44, while Splaine added third place to his haul when he guided Christopher Bell’s home-bred gelding Sunny Boy Max Striker (KEC Maximum Joe X Doon Striker) to a clear in 51.37.

Fourth place went to Coen Williams and his family’s Belgian-bred mare by Bisquet Balou C, Bouvardia Van Twelve Oaks Z in 51.98.

Francis Connors and Newmarket D’Arsouilles (Vigo D’Arsouilles x Cavalier Royale) took fifth place for owner/breeder Brian Daly, while the sixth and final place went to Tony O’Donohoe aboard Alan Robertson’s Glenfield Harrington (Clarimo x Untouchable 27).

In the four-year-old class, there were 23 starters, 13 of whom posted a double clear round and divided the 2,000 euros on offer.

Mini Grand Prix

Niall Greene’s home-bred Damma Kannan Supreme, a nine-year-old gelding by Kannan out of Tonagh Trip The Lights, by Camiro De Haar Z won the 1.30m Mini Grand Prix. With Eddie Moloney in the saddle, the pair crossed the finish line in a time of 35.77 for first place.

Second went to Maura Counihan aboard another by Kannan, the Ian Smyth owned and bred mare Cruising On The Ridge (Kannan x Ard VDL Douglas). They recorded a second-round time of 36.71.

Young Rider Katie Power and Power Equine’s six-year-old Starfield Brighteye (Luidam x Vivaldo Van Het Costersveld) took third in 37.30.

Quality Command (O.B.O.S. Quality 004 x Errigal Flight), owned and bred by James Nash, was ridden into fourth by Paddy O’Donnell, while Patrick Joyce and Paul Hourican’s eight-year-old Doonaveeragh Jack (Camiro de Haar Z x Le One), bred by Ivan Gardiner, were fifth.

Raymond McChesney’s RNH Valentino (Van Gogh x Beach Ball), bred by Normand Hammond, was guided to sixth by Francis Connors.
