A LARGE startlist of 58 combinations lined out for the 1.30m two-phase on Sunday at Barnadown.

Some 25 of the 58 managed to post a double clear round. Fastest of these was junior rider Alice Moloney riding Jim O’Neill’s Castlefield Cass, a gelding by Cassidee, out of La Mouette, by Puissance.

They stopped the clock at 31.32, to finish ahead of another of the Castlefield crew, Ger O’Neill riding John Lawler’s home-bred JM All for Luck (KEC Maximum Joe x Luidam) in 32.62.

Young rider

Young rider Cornelius Brennan was third aboard Sonya Brennan’s Escarda U (Singulord Jot x Carthago) in 33.29, while Mark Cleary and Lorcan Hennessy’s Ballynoe Clinton Jack (Clinton Jack x Ars Vivendi), bred by the late Edgar Hogg, took fourth.

Sarah Riley’s Caltra Classic (Sligo Candy Boy x Cult Hero), bred by Seamus Cawley, was fifth and Sean Foley and Victoria Loane’s Dutch-bred Lord of the Rings BMH (Prince van de Wolfsakker x Canturo) were sixth.

Saturday’s 1.30m was sponsored by BT Stables and was won by Ellie Guy riding Chedington Equestrian’s Belgian-bred Origi Van De Bandam (Cooper VD Heffinick x Indorado).

They posted the only double clear round in a sub-30 second time to secure the top-spot in 29.82.

Home-bred

The runner-up spot went to Shane O’Reilly riding Brian McConville’s home-bred BWE Valdi Semilly (Diamant de Semilly x Courage II) in 31.01.

Third place went to Susan Fitzpatrick’s Castle Howard Mrf Tiffin (Metropole x Classic Vision), bred by Mike Comerford, with Linda Murphy in the saddle, while fourth was Brendan Murphy with Langara Ventures’ seven-year-old Dutch-bred gelding Marcel WB.

Laurence Masterson’s Cruising With Alice (Clover Flush x Cruising), bred by Patrick Keating and ridden by Grace McHugh, took fifth place, while Darryl Walker and the Dutch-bred Fortnight were sixth.
