EDDIE Moloney and Niall Greene’s Damma Kannan Supreme, a 10-year-old gelding by Kannan out of Tonagh Trip The Lights, by Camiro De Haar Z, won the opening international class on Sunday in Mullingar.

The 1.35m Two-Phase was sponsored by Equine International Shipping and offered a €3,000 prize fund.

Bred by his owner, Damma Kannan Supreme has a consistent record of wins at 1.35m level and this one was no exception.

He cruised to the top-spot after a double clear round, stopping the clock at 33.72 seconds to secure the victory.

Some 67 combinations lined out for the 13-fence-strong track. Of these, 32 managed to leave all the fences intact over both phases.

Shane Goggins came closest to catching the leader. He partnered Jack Goaley’s Boleybawn Cayman (Cassidee x Ard VDL Douglas), bred by Ronan Rothwell, to the runner-up spot in 34.09. GRS Bloodstock’s gelding Genepi des Mansart (Zambesi TN x Indoctro) was ridden into third place by Patrick Hickey, breaking the beams at 35.07.

Goggins also claimed fourth place with his second mount, Neil Egan’s eight-year-old mare Cloonbarry Kannalilly (Kannan x Cassini II).

Derek McConnell rode his own mare Longfield Quinlui (Quintender x Luidam), bred by Seamus Drea, into fifth, while sixth went to Vincent Byrne and Kayleigh Soden’s CBI Bella Donna (Zapatero VDL).

1.25m jump-off

Sven Hadley captured Sunday’s second international class in Mullingar, the Derry Glen Stud 1.25m jump-off.

The win here confirmed him as the Leading Rider of the show. He collected wins on day one and two, placing first and third in the 1.20m on Friday, and winning the 1.25m on Saturday. His win on Sunday left him on a score of 193, well ahead of second placed Shane Goggins on 105.

Just 16 combinations from a start list of 96 produced a clear first round to progress to the jump-off. Seven of the 16 contenders kept a clean sheet, while seven had a single fence down to put them out of the running.

Hadley was fastest in a time of 34.33 seconds, aboard Neil Jones’ mare Topspin (Etrusco x Richard Of York) for the win.

Robert Harrison and his own gelding CES Wicked Contender (Contendro II x Cavalier) finished second, stopping the clock at 36.11.

Ciara Fives rode her father Micheal’s mare Future Storm (Future Trend x Cruising) into third place in 36.17, while Tomas Doyle and Marti Rudd’s Palomino gelding Monbeg Sunny Spells were fourth in 36.71.

Langara Ventures’ eight-year-old Galwaybay Sparkie (Spartacus TN x Clinton) was ridden into fifth by Nicola Fitzgibbon, while Robbie Topping’s Triple G (Womanizer x Cento), ridden by Jodie Creighton, completed the line up in sixth place.
