THE west-Galway based Ower Equestrian Centre, on the shores of Lough Corrib, has announced that its to hold a series of clinics in the autumn where a panel of recognised experts will share their skills with local and regional riders.

Ower Equestrian Centre, located in Rosscahill, 15km west of Galway city, has recruited showjumper Jack Doyle as well as dressage experts Kate Dwyer and Rachel Dowley to provide a series of clinics aimed at improving the skills of horse enthusiasts from the region.

Jack Doyle is a rider of international experience who represented Ireland at the Olympic Games. Kate Dwyer who qualified for the Tokyo Olympics and Rachel Dowley, who has trained with four-time Olympian and European and World show medallist Richard Davison, have used their own vast experience as dressage riders as a basis for their coaching skills.

“We are delighted to be able to welcome people of this calibre to Ower,” said owner/manager Sean O’Connell. “Not only are our guest coaches experts in their own right but they are also excellent communicators, well able to pass on their skills to learners,” he told The Irish Field.

Feedback from regular clients/members of Ower Equestrian Centre and other riders in the area has convinced O’Connell that there is a demand for such clinics west of the Corrib. He has noted a growing interest in riding, jumping and dressage in the area over the years.

“With the worst of Covid hopefully behind us at this stage, we are full of enthusiasm for this new initiative. You could say we are rearing to go!” he said.

The dates for the Clinics are as follows:

Kate Dwyer - September 18th and October 9th

Jack Doyle - September 23rd and October 28th

Rachel Dowley - November 13th
