BROADMEADOW Equestrian Centre hosted the TRI Equestrian Interschools competitions on Sunday, December 3rd, and the very cold weather did not deter those who attended.
The TRI Equestrian Open team event, saw St Mary’s New Ross make their journey very worthwhile, when claiming 10 points after posting four lovely clears in the competition. The team was made up of Cash Advance and Martha Power, Tomello ridden by Katie Costello, Smooth Passin Sarco and Ciara Sinnott and Junipierre ridden by Ava Donovan.
St Mary’s Naas was victorious in the TRI Equestrian Open Individual event, with Amy Byrne riding Major Profile posting the fastest time and a clear round to take the win. Maresa Vard riding Slanelough Supremacy for Wesley College was also clear, but a few seconds slower to be runner-up, with Hannah O’Neill on Drummin Pretty Lady for Colaiste Bhride Carnew in third.
Meanwhile, in the EII novice team event, a number of teams battled it out with victory going to the team from St Gerard’s Arraghbeg, comprised of Honey and Nina Boydell, Miss O Mara and Molly Briton, George and Sanna Rankin and Sunny Girl, ridden by Victoria Roche, ahead of Newbridge College in second. Newbridge was represented by La Vie Est Belle, ridden by Caton Fought, Knockma Girl ridden by Ava Berg, Blackwoodland Buzzard and Ellen Mooney and Caherdavin Blackjack and Emili Smith. Third place went to the team from Loreto Bray.
Bramble, ridden by Anna Boucher-Hayes, Belle and Roisin Boucher-Hayes, Misty Night, ridden by Ruby Carvill Andrews, and Funnesois and Isia Gornik, represented Loreto. Points will also be awarded to Alexandra College for fourth.
90cm qualifier
The Equieire 90cm qualifier was well supported and Caton Fought from Newbridge College, riding La Vie Est Belle, emerged victorious, ahead of Rocket Celt ridden by Jessica Kinsella for Loreto Abbey, Dalkey, in second and Sean Fenton and Blue from St Michael’s in third. Remaining places went to Ellen Mooney, Nina Boydell and Jessica Fenton.
The EII primary league class was won by Buster and Ailbhe Delahunty for Mount Anville. Walter and Anna Curry from Scoil Diarmuida was second and Beechmount Pete and Isabel Corcoran from local school Rolestown NS was third.
Last, but not least, the fun novice 80cm class saw a great round by Isabelle Smith and Caherdavin Blackjack from Allen NS to win the class, just pipping Anna Boucher-Hayes and Bramble from Loreto Bray into second.
The final competition before the Christmas break due to be held last Sunday hosted by Boswell Equestrian Centre had to be cancelled due to weather conditions.
The first event after Christmas is scheduled for January 14th, 2024, when Alexandra College hopes to host an event in JAG Equestrian.
