TAMAYUZ'S UNFORGETTABLE YEAR
Derrinstown Stud stallion Tamayuz (by Nayef) has had a year to remember.
Precieuse won the Group 1 Poule d'Essai des Pouliches (French 1000 Guineas) in May, Thawaany took the Group 3 Strensall Stakes at York, Desert Skyline followed a third-placing in the Group 1 Goodwood Cup with victory in the Group 2 Doncaster Cup, and now multiple pattern heroine Blond Me has notched up a first success at the highest level.
Barbara Keller's mare is trained by Andrew Balding, her six wins include May's Group 2 Middleton Stakes at York and it is she who chased home Winter in the Group 1 Nassau Stakes at Goodwood in August.
Blond Me was bred by Wardstown Stud Ltd, she is the best representative of Holda (by Docksider) and that mare is a winning half-sister to Australian Group 1 scorer Glass Harmonium (by Verglas).
Holda's siblings also include dual Group 3 winner Arab Spring (by Monsun) and they are out of Spring Symphony (by Darshaan), a full-sister to Group 2 Great Voltigeur Stakes winner Hard Top and three-parts sister to St Leger, King George, and dual Breeders' Cup Turf hero Conduit (by Dalakhani).
This is, of course, a famous Ballymacoll Stud family, one whose stars also include 2000 Guineas and Champion Stakes star Spectrum (by Rainbow Quest).
With family connections like these, there is every reason to hope that Blond Me could go on to have an influential career at stud.
As for her sire, Tamayuz is a dual Group 1 mile star from the famous stallion-producing family of Galileo (by Sadler's Wells), Sea The Stars (by Cape Cross), Adlerflug (by In The Wings) and King's Best (by Kingmambo) and, like the latter, he represents the Mr Prospector (by Raise a Native) sire line.

NEW GROUP 1 STAR FOR SIYOUNI
Haras de Bonneval's Group 1 scorer and classic sire Siyouni (by Pivotal) added a second top-level winner to his tally when Laurens held on to pip the Aidan O'Brien-trained September in the Group 1 bet365 Fillies' Mile at Newmarket last Friday.
The Karl Burke-trained bay, who was bred by Bloodstock Agency Ltd, is one of 17 stakes winners for the sire of Ervedya, and this, her third win from four starts, came a month after her narrow success in the Group 2 May Hill Stakes over the same trip at Doncaster.
This classic prospect is a £220,000 graduate of the Goffs UK Doncaster Premier Yearling Sale, she is out of Recambe (by Cape Cross), a half-sister to Helene Mascot (by Peintre Celebre).
Winner of both the (local Grade 1 only) Hong Kong Derby and Hong Kong Classic Mile, he raced as Salford Mill when trained by David Elsworth, winning the Listed Newmarket Stakes before finishing sixth behind Authorized in the Derby at Epsom.
Razana (by Kahyasi), the stakes-placed grandam of Laurens, is the dam of Ribot's Guest (by Be My Guest), the mare who gave us Group 3 Chester Vase scorer Mickdaam (by Dubawi) and his star sister Kinnaird (by Dr Devious).
She won the Group 1 Prix de l'Opera, missed out on classic placing when fourth to Attraction in the Group 1 Irish 1000 Guineas, is the dam of Group 2 scorer Berkshire (by Mount Nelson) and grandam of Ivawood (by Zebedee).
That classic-placed dual juvenile Group 2 scorer is a member of the Coolmore stallion team and will have some of his first foals on offer next month.
With family connections like these, Laurens could be an ideal candidate for both the Guineas races and the Group 1 Prix de Diane (French Oaks).

ALOISIA ADVERTISES AZAMOUR LOSS
H H the Aga Khan's homebred multiple top-level ace and late Gilltown Stud stallion Azamour (by Night Shift) was only 13 when he died but those he left behind include the Group 1 stars Covert Love, Dolniya, and Valyra.
He did one season in New Zealand and that crop features Aloisia, the one and a quarter-length winner of Saturday's Group 1 Schweppes Thousand Guineas over a mile at Caulfield.
A neck runner-up in a Group 1 contest over the same trip at Doomben on her final start as a juvenile, the Aaron Purcell-trained bay was bred by the partnership of Michael Hall, Jason Price and Kelly Price.
She is out of Queen Boudicca (by Perfectly Ready), a Group 2-placed winner whose grandam, Energy Efficient (by Flourescent Light), was a half-sister to US classic star Bet Twice (by Sportin' Life) and his Grade 1 Santa Anita Oaks-winning half-sister Golden Treat (by Theatrical).

GROUP 1 SON FOR FOOTSTEPSINTHESAND
Coolmore Stud's classic star Footstepsinthesand (by Giant's Causeway) has now sired six winners at the highest level following the victory of Don Chullo in the Gran Premio Suipacha over five furlongs at San Isidro, in Argentina, on Saturday.
The Hector Calvente-trained six-year-old was bred by San Benito, he is out of Casual Chic (by Interprete), and she is a winning daughter of a half-sister to classic-placed Grade 2 scorer and leading Argentine sire Fitzcarraldo (by Cipayo).

CAMELOT'S FIRST
Coolmore Stud's 2000 Guineas and dual Derby hero Camelot (by Montjeu) notched up a first pattern winner from his first crop when Fighting Irish pipped odds-on Nebo in the Group 2 Criterium de Maisons-Laffitte last Friday.
This was the Harry Dunlop-trained colt's third win from six starts, and although he was well-beaten in his one attempt beyond six furlongs, one would imagine that a son of Camelot will stay a mile at three, especially when when he is out of an unraced full-sister to Group 1 Lockinge Stakes winner Virtual (by Pivotal).
He is the best of three winners from the first four foals of Quixotic, he was bred by the famous Kilcarn Stud, he made €50,000 in Goffs as a foal and £70,000 at last year's Goffs UK Doncaster Premier Yearling Sale.
His grandam, Virtuous (by Exit To Nowhere), is a Cheveley Park Stud homebred, she is also responsible for the Group 2 Coventry Stakes winner Iceman (by Polar Falcon), and her immediate relations include the Group 1 stars Entrepreneur (by Sadler's Wells), Exclusive (by Polar Falcon), Echelon (by Danehill), and Integral (by Dalakhani).
Camelot's double-digit tally of first-crop winners also includes listed scorer Alounak, Group 3-placed King Of Camelot, and listed-placed Alhadab.

FRANKEL LANDMARK
Banstead Manor Stud's great Frankel (by Galileo) took his tally to 20 stakes winners recently, a remarkable figure given that his eldest progeny are only three years old.
At Dundalk last Friday evening, China Horse Club's €1.7 million Goffs Orby Sale purchase Goldrush made it two from two with victory in the Listed Al Basti Equiworld Carlingford Stakes over 10 and a half furlongs.
The Jim Bolger-trained three-year-old, who was bred by Noel O'Callaghan, only made her debut early last month, scoring easily over a mile at Navan.
She is the third foal out of multiple Group 1 star Alexander Goldrun (by Gold Away), who is a half-sister to the classic-placed Group 3 winner Medecis (by Machiavellian), and it would not be hard to imagine her to be a potential Group 1 contender should she stay in training as a four-year-old.
The following afternoon, Juddmonte homebred Monarchs Glen added the Group 3 Darley Club Stakes to last month's Goodwood listed success.
The John Gosden-trained gelding beat Robin Of Navan by a length and a quarter in that nine-furlong contest and his overall tally now reads as four wins from eight starts.
He is the best of four winners from the first five foals of Mirabilis (by Lear Fan), a Grade 3-winning half-sister to Group 1 Prix de Diane (French Oaks) and Group 1 Prix du Moulin de Longchamp heroine Nebraska Tornado (by Storm Cat).
Later that night, Rubilinda became a dual blacktype scorer when getting up on the line to take the Listed Pebbles Stakes over a mile at Belmont Park.
Don Alberto Stable's homebred three-year-old is trained by Chad Brown, she is out of stakes-placed Rubina (by Invincible Spirit) and so is from a branch of the family of Group 1 Prix de l'Opera heroine Ridasiyna (by Motivator).
Frankel's 20th individual stakes winner came at Yarmouth on Monday when the Luca Cumani-trained Aljezeera won the Listed British Stallion Studs EBF Beckford Stakes over 14 furlongs.
Runner-up in the Group 2 Park Hill Stakes on her previous start, Al Shaqab Racing's three-year-old was bred by Newsells Park Stud.
She is out of dual US Grade 1 star Dynaforce (by Dynaformer), who is a half-sister to the similarly talented Cetawayo (by His Majesty).
Their dam, Aletta Maria (by Diesis), was a half-sister to Group 2 Flying Childers Stakes scorer Raah Algharb (by Gone West) and full-sister to Group 3 Lancashire Oaks and Listed Cheshire Oaks heroine Pharian.

FRESHMAN RELIABLE MAN STRIKES AGAIN
Classic star and freshman sire Reliable Man (by Dalakhani) notched up another first-crop pattern winner when Erasmus ran away with the Group 3 Preis der Winterfavoriten over a mile at Cologne on Sunday.
This eight-length success in one of Germany's top juvenile contests makes Gestut Röttgen's homebred a leading classic contender. He is trained by Markus Klug.
Erasmus is out of Group 1 Preis der Diana (German Oaks) heroine Enora (by Noverre), who is a half-sister to Group 1-placed Group 2 scorer Egerton (by Groom Dancer) and to two-mile pattern winner Ephraim (by Rail Link).
Might this be the Group 1 Deutsches Derby star of 2018?
Reliable Man's global first crop also includes German Group 3 scorer Narella, Australian listed race winner Main Stage, and the New Zealand-bred Group 1-placed pair Belle Du Nord and Sully.
He has spent his first four European seasons at Gestut Röttgen but is moving to Haras du Thenney in 2018.

KYLLACHY'S CLASSIC PROSPECT
Cheveley Park Stud's Group 1 star and notable stallion Kyllachy (by Pivotal), who retired from active service this year, may have a potential classic prospect for 2018.
His daughter Altyn Orda, who was runner-up in her only two prior starts, opened her winning account in style with victory in the Group 3 Godolphin Lifetime Care Oh So Sharp Stakes over seven furlongs at Newmarket recently.
The Roger Varian-trained chesnut was bred by Hesmonds Stud Ltd, she is the second foal out of Albanka (by Giant's Causeway), and her dam is an unplaced daughter of the stakes winner Alidiva (by Chief Singer).
That mare, one of the best representatives of her sire, is, of course, the dam of Group 1 1000 Guineas heroine Sleepytime (by Royal Academy), of Group 1 Sussex Stakes scorer Ali-Royal (by Royal Academy), and of middle-distance Group 1 star Taipan (by Last Tycoon).
Albanka's siblings also include full-sister and US Grade 2 scorer Oonagh Maccool.
In addition to his Group 1 sprint stars Krypton Factor, Sole Power and Twilight Son (sire at Cheveley Park Stud), Kyllachy's best also include the Group 2 winners Dragon Pulse, Penitent and Tariq, each of whom showed high-class form at a mile, a distance that looks likely to suit Altyn Orda next season.

ANOTHER SMART ARCANO JUVENILE
Former Derrinstown Stud stallion Arcano (by Oasis Dream) has had five individual blacktype scorers so far this year and two of them are pattern-winning juveniles.
Tajaanus won the Group 3 Sweet Solera Stakes in August and, last Friday, Abel Handy took the Group 3 Newmarket Academy Godolphin Beacon Project Cornwallis Stakes.
The Declan Carroll-trained colt beat previous pattern winner Sound And Silence by a neck and it was that one who beat him by half a length in the Listed Roses Stakes at York in late August.
A £16,000 graduate of the Goffs UK Breeze-Up Sale, the bay was bred by Mr and Mrs G Middlebrook, and he is the first foal out of Belle Isle (by Pastoral Pursuits), a twice-raced granddaughter of Dominio (by Dominion).
That mare is a half-sister to the Group 1 Nunthorpe Stakes dead-heater Ya Malak (by Fairy King), she is the dam of Group 2 King's Stand Stakes star Dominica (by Alhaarth), and of Bowness (by Efisio), the stakes-placed grandam of Abel Handy.
Dorelia, a lightly-raced mile winner, is a full-sister to Bowness, she is the dam of seven-furlong Group 3 scorer and Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes runner-up Rimth (by Oasis Dream), and that offers hope that colt may stay six furlongs next season, which would increase his prospects.

POTENTIAL CLASSIC SON FOR NIGHTIME
Runaway Group 1 Irish 1000 Guineas winner Nightime (by Galileo), dam of this year's Grade 1 Man O'War Stakes heroine Zhukova (by Fastnet Rock), has another potential top-level contender to her name following the victory of Ghaiyyath (by Dubawi) at Newmarket on Saturday.
A €1.1 million graduate of the Goffs November Foal Sale, the Charlie Appleby-trained bay followed a five-length maiden success at Newmarket with defeat of Dream Today and Purser in the Group 3 Masar Godolphin Autumn Stakes over the same course and distance.
His siblings also include Sleeping Beauty (by Oasis Dream), the stakes-placed dam of the Bill Mott-trained juvenile Irish Territory (by Declaration Of War) who was a one-length runner-up in the Grade 3 With Anticipation Stakes over eight and a half furlongs on turf at Saratoga in late August.
Nightime was the best of several winners out of Listed Platinum Stakes scorer Caumshinaun (by Indian Ridge).

ANOTHER FOR EXCELEBRATION
Coolmore Stud's outstanding miler Excelebration (by Exceed And Excel), whose first crop features Group 1 star Barney Roy, was represented at York last weekend by Rebel Assault, the Mark Johnston-trained juvenile who took the Listed coral.co.uk Rockingham Stakes over six furlongs.
Now winner of three of her eight starts, a tally that includes a seven-length score at Windsor in July, the filly is owned and bred by Christine Budden and partners.
She is a half-siter to the five-time scorers Alexander M (by Mastercraftsman) and Assault On Rome (by Holy Roman Emperor) – the latter a stakes-placed filly – and she is out of Naomh Geileis (by Grand Slam), a dual winner from the immediate family of Andros Bay (by Alleged).
He won the Group 2 Blandford Stakes for Vincent O'Brien, is a half-brother to the pattern-placed sprinter Juniper (by Andros Bay), and also to St Aye (by Nureyev), who is the grandam of Rebel Assault.

SECOND STAKES WINNER FOR PIMPERNEL
Irish National Stud stallion Elusive Pimpernel (by Elusive Quality) notched up his second stakes winner of the year when Elegant Pose won the Listed Clodovil EBF Garnet Stakes at Naas on Sunday.
The Ger Lyons-trained three-year-old was bred by Windflower Overseas Holdings Inc, she beat pattern scorer Making Light by a short-head in the mile contest, and her only defeat from four starts is her third place finish in a listed race at Gowran Park in August.
She is a half-sister to a string of winners out of Abeyr (by Unfuwain), but none more notable than high six-figure earner and multiple blacktype scorer Brendan Brackan (by Big Bad Bob), another star in the Lyons stable.
Elusive Pimpernel's first three crops have also yielded pattern-placed stakes winner Elusive Beauty, the blacktype-placed trio Elusive Heights, Elusive Janice, and Kabaw, and a string of multiple winners including the prolific Italian runner La Grande Bellezza.
