COOLEY Farm’s stable jockey Amanda Goldsbury recorded her first Eventing Ireland win of the year last Saturday at Loughanmore where, despite being a second over the time across the country, she landed the 27-runner EI100 on Hot Socks Z (22.2).
Alex Houston finished second, on her dressage score, with her Ash Hollow winner My Atlantic Encore (23), while Stephen Smith, who had no rides in the higher graded classes, placed third, on his flatwork mark, with the highly-consistent Annaghmore Cornoko (23.8).
The Zangersheide gelding Hot Socks Z, who was making his official Eventing Ireland debut following an eye-catching training run at Ash Hollow, was show jumping up to mid-July.
The seven-year-old Heart Touch grey is out of the Concorde mare Carenzalottie, a half-sister to the Heartbreaker stallion Braveheart V (CSI4*).
All-the-way victory
Bidding to bring up a four-timer in the 20-strong EI90 with the seven-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding Meadowspring, Ian McCluggage had to settle for second (28) on this occasion, as Kaiti McCann recorded an all-the-way victory on her father Martin’s 15-year-old skewbald mare Boyher Cookies N Creme (25.3).
Six of the top seven on the final leaderboard in the 20-runner EI80 completed on their dressage scores.
These included the winning combination of veterinary surgeon Kathryn Henderson and her 14-year-old Builder’s Delight mare Mocking Bird (28.3 penalties), but not the second-placed pairing of Gillian Neill and The Crafty Fox (28.9), who were a second over the time across the country.
