Hawkes Point: The Grade 3 Betfred Classic Chase over three miles, five furlongs at Warwick on Saturday, was one of the most valuable events of the past few days, and it went to the Paul Nicholls trained 10-year-old Hawkes Point.

This is a first graded success for the son of Overbury Stud stallion Kayf Tara (by Sadler's Wells). He was bred by Joan Egan, he is out of Mandys Native (by Be My Native), and he is a full-brother to the Grade 3 winning chaser Alfie Sherrin.

Mandys Native won a handicap hurdle over two miles, five furlongs at Plumpton. Her dam Castlemartin (by Carlingford Castle) is a half-sister to the high-class chasing duo Beau Ranger (by Beau Chapeau) and Beau (by Zaffaran).

Three Musketeers: The Dan Skelton trained five-year-old maintained his unbeaten record with victory in the Grade 2 Neptune Investment Management Novices' Hurdle (registered as the Leamington Novices' Hurdle) over two miles, five furlongs on soft ground at Warwick on Saturday.

Bred by Bruce Mactaggart, he is a half-brother to the bumper and dual hurdle winner Royal Regatta (by King's Theatre) who made a winning debut over fences at Newbury in November. They are out of Friendly Craic (by Mister Lord), who is an unraced half-sister to the triple chase scorer Joe Deane (by Alphabatim). The next dam is a non-winning mare whose siblings include the talented staying chaser Plenty Crack (by Deep Run), and also Stormy Skies (by Strong Gale), the placed dam of the graded scorers Strong Flow (by Over The River) and Carrig Millie (by Milan).

Three Musketeers is a son of the Beeches Stud stallion Flemensfirth (by Alleged).

Douvan: A member of the Willie Mullins stable since the start of November, the five-year-old made it two from two in Ireland with an odds-on success in the Grade 2 sportinglife.com Moscow Flyer Novice Hurdle over two miles at Punchestown on Saturday.

He was bred by SARL Haras De La Faisanderie in France and he is a son of the Group 1 Derby runner-up Walk In The Park (by Montjeu). His dam Star Face (by Saint Des Saints) was unplaced, but his third dam Miss French (by Mistigri) is a full-sister to the Grade 3 winning hurdler and successful National Hunt sire Discover D'Auteuil.

Mountains Of Mist: Winning daughter of the Group 1 Coronation Stakes heroine Magic Of Life (by Seattle Slew), Mountains Of Mist produced the pattern placed stakes winner Misty Heights (by Fasliyev) and the Grade 3 scorer Madeira Mist (by Grand Lodge) for the partnership of Dr Tony O'Reilly and Skymarc Farm.

The mare later moved to South Africa and for Drakenstein Stud she has bred Saturday's Grade 1 Maine Chance Farm Paddocks Sales (Fillies & Mares) Stakes winner Inara (by Trippi). The race is over nine furlongs at Kenilworth.

Inara'a half-sister Madeira Mist is the dam of the triple Grade 1 scorer Joshua Tree (by Montjeu), who is about to start his stallion career at Haras du Grand Courgeon in France.

Surfer: The first major race of the year in Dubai was the Group 2 Al Maktoum Challenge R1 presented by Longines Conquest Classic Moon Phases, over a mile on the new dirt track at Meydan. It was won easily by the Satish Seemar trained six-year-old Surfer.

The gelding is a new pattern winner for the multiple US champion sire Distorted Humor (by Forty Niner), who stands at WinStar Farm in Kentucky. He is a half-brother to the Grade 1 Forego Stakes winner Emcee (by Unbridled's Song), and his dam Surf Club (by Ocean Crest) is a winning half-sister to the Grade 1 Spinaway Stakes heroine Awesome Humor (by Distorted Humor).

Surfer's half-brother Emcee stands at Sequel Stallions in New York, and his first foals arrive this year.
