THE two-star show at Sentower Park, Opglabbeek, Belgium, welcomed a few Irish competitors, including Paraic Kenny, who was the best of 81 participants in Thursday’s two-star 1.30m Two-phase Special class with Lt Holst Elizabeth.

Kenny jumped double clear with a second phase time of 25.50 seconds, which was well ahead of his nearest rival, Yuri Mansur (BRA), who finished in 27.12.

Friday saw Kenny finish second and fourth in the one-star 1.25m Speed class, with Neduela (51.52) and Imagine Dragon (54.33) respectively.

Meanwhile, in the day’s Young Horse one-star Seven and Eight-year-old 1.30/1.35m class, Shane Kenny placed fourth on Chacoon Cherry PS, jumping double clear with a phase two time of 26.29. The winner, Thierry Goffinet (BEL) on Quick Diamant HR was less than a second ahead in 25.47.

On Saturday, the one-star 1.25m class saw Paraic Kenny and Imagine Dragon finish seventh of 72 starters, when clear in 57.12. British winner Noora Von Buelow on Billy Utah clocked a speedy 53.07. In the one-star Five and Six-year-old 1.10/1.20m class, Saoirse Kenny was seventh of 73 participants on Naritta (61.28). Winner Kyle Cuypers (BEL) on Domiena Van’T Buxushof Z jumped clear in 56.66.

The day’s one-star Young Horse Seven and Eight-year-old 1.35/1.40m class saw Shane Kenny and Chacoon Cherry PS take third place with a double clear round in 32.43, less than a second behind Brazilian winner Marlon Modolo Zanotelli on For Friendship VDL (31.51).

The one-star 1.30m class on Sunday saw Paraic Kenny on Imagine Dragon finish eighth. Of the 45 participants, 12 jumped clear to get into the jump-off, but only seven could manage to remain fault-free in the second round. Kenny was the fastest of the four-faulters in a time of 30.83, with Belgian Thierry Goffinet on Vincy du Gue winning the class when double clear in a jump-off time of 28.91.

Barcelona

Elsewhere, at the Barcelona Christmas Tour, Sunday’s two-star 1.35m Special Two-phase saw Ireland’s Stephanie O’Daly on Eaglesham Bolchet place fifth, jumping double clear in a phase two time of 28.39 seconds, just a second off the pace of French winner, Brice Grugeon on Eliskan de Riviole (27.38).
