UNCLE Phil has been sold out of the Willie Mullins yard for £38,000, topping the ThoroughBid Christmas online sale.
The seven-year-old gelding, winner of five races and rated 146 over fences in Ireland, was bought by owner Gordon Miller and will be trained by Matt Sheppard.
Miller said: “The plan will be to syndicate him between a few people and then hopefully enjoy some big days with him in the spring and beyond. He’s clearly got plenty of ability, and Matt is capable of getting horses to perform beyond what they’ve previously been capable of, so I’m looking forward to it.”
John Nallen’s Minella Racing sold seven horses in the online sale. Minella Loach went to Tim Underwood for £13,500 and Minella Supreme was bought by John McConnell for £12,500.
Neil Mulholland purchased Myles Osbourne’s recent Larkhill point-to-point winner Five Bar Gate for £28,000.
ThoroughBid’s next sale is on January 23rd.
