WE were confused to see a social media post from Pat Healy last weekend which announced that trainer Mick Winters turned up at a Cheltenham preview night in Listowel dressed as a priest.

Mick explained: “I had just come from a local fundraising event. We recorded seven short films which will be shown at the Kanturk Film Awards in Charleville on Friday, April 4th. I appeared in the Father Ted film. Initially I didn’t want to do it but I really enjoyed the community spirit involved.

“I was supposed to play Fr Jack and was coached by my brother Stephen who is the spit of Fr Jack himself and is used to the bit of craic. After a couple of takes, the directors gave the part to Stephen and I just played another priest instead.”

Mick said his nephew Finny Maguire appeared in another of the films and did well.

And what’s Mick’s Cheltenham tip? “I have good word for Yeah Man, trained by Gavin Cromwell.”
