Tattersalls Craven Sale catalogue out
THERE are 180 juveniles entered for the Tattersalls Craven Breeze Up Sale, the sale which produced Vandeek, Native Trail and Cachet in recent years. This year’s sale runs from Monday, April 15th to Wednesday, April 17th.
All 180 lots are eligible for the £250,000 Tattersalls Royal Ascot/Group 1 Bonus which was won in 2023 by Vandeek and in its inaugural year by European champion Native Trail. The scheme offers a £125,000 bonus for the first Craven Breeze Up winner of any of the six two-year-old races at the Royal Meeting and an additional £125,000 bonus to the first Craven Breeze Up winner of any of the 15 European Group 1 races open to two-year-olds.
Doncaster Breeze Up has 235 lots
THE catalogue for the Doncaster Breeze Up Sale features 235 horses. This sale has produced nine Royal Ascot winners in the last eight years. This year’s breeze will be held on Tuesday, April 23rd at Doncaster Racecourse, with the sale held the following day. Some 64 lots are nominated for the Swedish Derby & Oaks Series, six for the Goffs Two Million Series and two for Harry’s Half Million. A total of 10 are eligible for French premiums and a further 10 for the lucrative GBB scheme.
Breeder of the Month winner
DAN and Danielle McSorley of Bregarry House Stud in Newcastle, Co Dublin, have won the Connolly’s Red Mills/The Irish Field Breeder of the Month competition for January. The McSorleys bred Banbridge, winner of the Grade 2 Silviniaco Conti Chase at Kempton.
First mares in foal for Bouttemont
BOUTTEMONT has made a fast start to his new stallion career at Rathbarry Stud. The first three mares covered by the son of Acclamation have been confirmed as pregnant in recent days and 20 other mares are holding service to him.
Two of Bouttemont’s in-foal mares were sent to him by Whisperview Trading, namely Rival Queen who is out of a Galileo half-sister to Invincible Spirit and Kodiac, and Along The Shore who is a winner out of a Sadler’s Wells half-sister to Pilsudski. The other mare in foal to him is Loire, a Kodiac half-sister to the Group 1-placed sprinter Tupi.
Mostahdaf off the mark at stud
SHADWELL has confirmed that Mostahdaf has had his first five mares scanned in foal. The son of Frankel, winner of the Prince of Wales’s Stakes and the Juddmonte International last year, stands at Beech House Stud in Newmarket.
Stephen Collins, Shadwell’s European bloodstock manager, said: “We are delighted with how Mostahdaf has commenced his first book. Tattersalls selling 55 lots online
TATTERSALLE Online stages its next auction on Wednesday and Thursday. The 55 lots catalogued include 37 horses in and out of training from both flat and National Hunt disciplines, five yearlings, four two-year-olds, three breeding rights, two mares, one point-to-pointer and a stallion share in Gregorian. One of the most interesting lots on offer is Escaria Ten, who is offered with an entry in the Glenfarclas Cross Country Chase at the upcoming Cheltenham Festival.
Love Envoi for sale at Aintree
GOFFS have confirmed that the top class National Hunt racemare Love Envoi will be offered for sale at the Aintree Sale during the Grand National meeting. Trained by Harry Fry for the Noel Fehily Racing Syndicate, the eight-year-old Westerner mare has won eight races including two Grade 2 events and finished second in Grade 1 company three times.
